I don’t date, Ruan Lanzhu demurred.
I don’t either, Li Dongyuan replied, nonsensical and hypocritical. I work too much. But I bet it would feel like less of a chore if you were there with me. Give me a chance! Three doors? You can keep two of the clues.
… I get to keep all of the clues.
It had seemed like a good way, in the moment, to avoid the horrors of a real date, so Ruan Lanzhu had accepted. but now that he’s getting dressed he’s forced to confront how date-like the situation feels.
The truth is rarely pure, and never simple.
