Summary
"A lesser mind would have been destroyed."
But a lesser mind had been destroyed, decimated. Delia Shepard was nothing but a shell after Torfan, she was a body with no real purpose. That was, of course, until she found a dead salarian in an alleyway."At the end of the day, I don't think I'm a very good turian."
Garrus didn't want those words to be true. He wanted to be loyal. He wanted to be dedicated, contrite, cold, calculating. He wanted to be brave and decisive and individualistic. But he was none of those things-- not at least, without her.Shepard and Garrus, detective AU. Events of Mass Effect had Shepard not been on Eden Prime.

Summary
An arrangement negotiated between the Hierarchy and the Alliance at the end of the First Contact conflict leads to the placement of twenty human families on the turian colony world of Oma Ker. Among these families is lieutenant Hannah Shepard and her daughter Jane. Growing up surrounded by turians, Jane finds she doesn't truly belong to either world she's a part of: too turian to be fully human and too human to be fully turian. Struggling to find her place, her only comfort is her closest friend, one she's know since her arrival on Oma Ker: Garrus Vakarian. But as the years go by, she begins to see Garrus as more than just a friend. She must learn to navigate the complexities of straddling two worlds, and the new emotions developing for her best friend, while staying true to herself.
Takes place in three acts spanning several years, following Shepard and Garrus' changing relationship.

Summary
Chance Effect will span the events of the Mass Effect Trilogy, and possibly beyond. It's presented with the assumption that the reader is familiar with the major characters and plot points of the Mass Effect Trilogy.
Story is mostly canon compliant (with minor fix-its), with many scenes and dialogue exchanges pulled straight from the game. Original scenes and storylines are contextualized with canon missions and world events.
Chapters will explore crew dynamic between plot points and fleshed out side-missions to enhance the Chance Effect narrative.
And finally- and most importantly- there's no Shepard without Vakarian.
