"There's something —" Vash pauses. He's leaning back against the outer wall of the tavern while Nicholas smokes, legs crossed and arms folded over his chest. He's looking toward Nicholas but not directly at him, face tipped up to the moons and the stars. The lenses of his glasses shine in the night, obscuring his eyes. "There's something that I want."
Nicholas bites down on his first response, which is anything, and his second, which is just name it, and lands on "We all want things," which seems safe enough.
Vash isn't always good at asking for what he wants, so it's a good thing Nicholas is learning to listen.

I could fix him, Vash thought as he sat on the rickety stool in the quiet bar, watching Wolfwood keep a flailing Meryl back by placing his hand on her head and holding her in place. Vash crossed his legs uncomfortably as Wolfwood smirked, a devious little quirk of his lips that made Vash hot all over, and tried to be normal for five seconds.
It had been a couple years since Vash the Stampede last had sex. It wasn't that big of a deal, until Meryl hit the world's sexiest, bitchiest, most foul-mouthed priest on the planet with her car.
What was the saying? God gave his hardest battles to his sexiest soldiers? Vash certainly felt like he was being tested right now.

His memories trickle in, he tries to remember what he was last doing. There was Hopeland, and there was red. A lot of red.
Vash.
There’s an uncomfortable feeling in his chest at the name, the face. Spikey, Needle-noggin, Blondie, all his stupid nicknames for one very familiar face.
He died, the knowledge doesn’t feel as scary as it should be. Just strange, like the first time he saw Vash talk to a plant. Like something beyond his comprehension was placed right in his lap.
Wolfwood wakes up almost twenty years after his death. Things have changed, the world is a kinder place than he left it. There's only one thing missing.
