(“So you're still caught up on tonight,” he addresses, all jokes aside. “Look, kid, I ain't gonna tell you how you should feel. But I can tell you what to do. I'm the boss–your boss–and at the end of the day you answer to me or a gun barrel pointed right at your eye.”
Victor flinches and Oz can't blame it on the growing coldness when it was so visceral. You would think they were still mid-operation the way Vic was acting, all tense and strung tight.
“It's just the truth of it, Vic. Could be a goon, could be a cop, could be the family itself. You get caught up in a dumb mistake, get popped, and then what can I do? Stitch up the bullet wound in your forehead and put you back behind the wheel?”)
OR
Oswald really needs Victor to know about the dangers of their work.

Summary
Oz escaped the clutches of Nadia Maroni AND Sofia, all with one well-timed act of vehicular homicide.
("No, Vic, you probably just broke his pelvis. He ain't walking away from that but he ain't dead neither," Oz shamelessly lies to his traumatized child employee.)
Now all that's left to do is celebrate, and plan. And wait.

Summary
"Sam and Eric looked helplessly at the boat leaving the harbor, too far out to swim. Even if they wanted to try, the harbor was swarming with creatures. The boat sailed away and they headed back to the jazz club in silence."
(Eric misses the boat off the main land and Sam lets him stay with her.)

Summary
As the minutes passed the kid– the cop– gradually came to life. His head bobbed on his neck and then lifted. There was a streak of blood that ran from his hairline into his eye and his bangs were plastered to it. He seemed lucid, at least, if not totally alert, and who could blame him for it after the way they’d knocked him around earlier.
“You know,” he said, “far be it for me to tell you how to do your job but if I were you, I’d steer clear of the tall guy in the future.”Bookmarked by Thacky
