Jason Todd grew up with a fundamental fear of being seen. Not in the sense of shyness, but in the sense of shame. He supposed, if he wished to contemplate the fear’s origins, he might start where most tragedies do:
The house he grew up in.
Where the act of wanting was as good as a death sentence to that desire.
He supposed he might even make an argument for the statement “people become what they are called”. He thinks that might have some merit, looking back.
What he fears most, (like most other people), is how obvious it is to others. The fear itself.
He wonders if they can see it.or
Thanks to a rogue meta, the batfam gets to watch Jason's memories like a movie; and Jason just really wants a family again. But you cannot be loved if you aren't known, and well... if circumstances provide? might as well take the chance, right?

His body was slick with sweat, hair plastered to his forehead, palms dangerously damp and self control slipping from him with every flick of Izuku’s tongue.
The damn nerd pursued Bakugo’s pleasure with the same frenzied determination as everything else. He was improving horribly fast, too fast, Bakugo couldn’t keep up. It was difficult enough to survive.

Jason shrugs and blinks away the entirely-onion-induced tears, focusing very intently on his knife, even though his knife skills are fucking superb and he could dice to perfection in his sleep.
“He took care of me,” he blurts out, and is absolutely appalled by the way his voice breaks.
It sounds so simple when he says it like that. It doesn’t feel simple at all.
