    Enjin was shoved out of the back of the truck, dropping with a hard thud and an oomph of pain onto his bruised, aching knees, sending a cloud of dust up on the road beneath him as shouts rang out at the end of the drive. He wasn’t too surprised at the distant uproar coming from the front steps of Cleaners HQ. He’d been missing three days, after all. Not that he’d expected anyone to really care, but…

    Being dumped back at headquarters, battered and beat to shit, hands chained behind his back and blood all over his face, wasn’t exactly the ideal homecoming he’d first envisioned three days ago. But on the other hand, at least he was back.

    That was the first time Enjin let his guard down around Gris and that's when Enjin broke his main rule and motto, never get attached to someone. No matter how much your body and mind seek them, no matter how much it burns your heart to push them away.

    He broke it twice that day, once when he kissed Gob's hand and the second when he accepted Gris’ hug. And he knew those mistakes would come to haunt him sooner than he'd expect it to.

    or

    He didn't want to corner Enjin like how he's been doing these past few weeks. Everything would be better if he just wanted to talk like earlier. Gris could help, even if it meant ripping his heart to shreds and watching Enjin love another person he was wailing to help him till the very end.

    And that's probably why he was just so damn bad for Enjin. No matter the time and age he was always the one falling in love and never the one being loved.
