He furtively glanced up at Crowley’s face. Crowley was motionless, his mouth was slightly open and it appeared no air was going in or out.

Summary
Aziraphale has known for a long time that something was wrong with Crowley's memory. He learns to navigate it. Learns to hide the hurt when Crowley acts like he doesn't know Aziraphale loves him; learns to always remind Crowley to protect himself, that they are a danger to each other. Crowley speaks to Aziraphale in thousands of languages, says I love you every way but with words, and still Aziraphale can never be certain what he doesn't remember and what he simply chooses not to speak of. Aziraphale tries to explain, to someone who does not have the memories to understand, the choice he has made.
New chapter: Crowley tells Aziraphale what it was like to be the one who couldn't remember. What it *was* like, past tense, because Aziraphale has kept his promise.

Like, actually. He very nearly loses balance for no reason at all and tumbles to the sidewalk next to his car. He’s been playing Aziraphale’s voice in his head for weeks, he’s been trying very hard to drown out the sound of it, in fact, and now suddenly, abruptly—
“What are you doing here,” is all he can think to say. He whirls around, and there he is. On Crowley’s right, standing there like he’d never left. Where he belongs, Crowley’s mind helpfully supplies. He wishes he could punch himself in the brain, knock the thoughts right on out of there.

“What’re you even doing still up? Aren’t you getting married tomorrow?” Crowley enquired. Suspicion wove itself into his tone. “One would think that you’d wish to be fully awake for something like that.”
In response, Aziraphale pursed his lips and mumbled.
“Aziraphale…” came the familiar admonishing voice that curled annoyance down the pit of his stomach. “Mind telling me what you’re doing?”
Aziraphale scowled at his boots. “M’running ‘way.”
“You’re what?”
“I am running away!” he blurted out. “Lord Helston is an insufferable man whose very presence wears my patience to a sheet!”
