The first time they’d started their little…habit was on the Helicarrier. It was after the time that Cap had dragged Thor and Tony back from their all-out brawl in the woods, when they’d parked Loki’s green-laden ass right back there in Hulk’s cell.
It was some of the best sex Tony had ever had.
In the aftermath, they’d said good night and he’d gotten dressed and left with some pep in his step back to the lab, cheerfully satiated and not overthinking it. After all, it was just some stress relief, wonderfully effective but unlikely to ever happen again.
He was half-right.

Steve smiled, laying the last of the ribbons down on the stone altar. “I was born ready.”
It was unusual, a land creature and water creature choosing to be bound together. A rarity. Binding in itself was a serious commitment, the strongest, unbreakable kind of bond there was. Usually two creatures of the same element were the easiest to bind. Earth, water, fire, wind, metal and wood; if they were of the same element and could accept each other, the bond would snap through, true. But with two creatures of disparate elements, there was a greater chance that the elements would resist each other, resist binding and reject the connection, leaving the two creatures walking away with nothing but broken hope.
And no one knew beforehand if that would be them.
Like Steve and Bucky didn’t know if that would be them.
or: Steve and Bucky are getting bonded to each other and Tony stumbles in.

Someone leaked the video from December 16th, 1991 to the world, resulting in a mass uproar of the Winter Soldier’s murder of Iron Man’s parents. When things take a turn for the worse and the public starts to demand for the Winter Soldier’s head on a platter, the most unlikely candidate of them all comes to Bucky Barnes’ rescue.
Honestly, when Steve called to ask for Fury’s help, he wasn’t thinking that Tony would be playing boyfriend to his boyfriend.

Tony learned from very young that others didn’t hear the music. The music that underlaid a person, their own symphony that exposed the truth of what they were behind the fake smiles and the pleasant expressions. When he was young and innocent, Tony danced to the music playing in his mind with uninhibited freedom, letting his childish laughter intertwine with it and create new harmony.
That didn’t last long.
