Summary
The pines family is together again! Of course, the previous year, Stan and Ford Pines neglected one important detail of their lives; Stan was legally dead, and Ford was null in the legal system because his brother stole his identity. Meaning they had to fix it. Luckily! Stan has connections! A lawyer he knew VERY well.
His name was Don Crooks. A sleezy looking man in a tacky peacock coat; and Ford? DOESNT LIKE THE MAN! How he holds himself, the outline of a gun in his coat- it makes him uneasy.
Dipper and Mabel- well... They don't recall the lawyer at all from the previous year, but they sense something different with him too. Dipper notices Ford's unease and is immediately suspicious of the lawyer. But Mabel? She sees how Stan is willing to hold him. She sees how the lawyer leans into it. Theres something there- a spark of something! Dipper thinks she's crazy. No there was something very wrong- and because its gravity falls it-it HAS to be supernatural.
The twins, both dead set on their theories make a bet. 2 months, the end of the summer, to gather evidence and prove their point. however; Stan and Don are guilty of a relationship or guilty of being a relationship or a monster, they're just complicated. -

Summary
Kevin is tired. Every other day he's being pranked by those stupid kids, or getting maybe 3 customers at most. Theres always something weird going on in town to that he's praying to every god out there doesn't affect his job. Oh. And then there's Frank. Local child napper who doesnt actually harm the kid. He's more like an expensive, surprise baby-sitter than an actual danger. But even if hes not dangerous, he's so fucking annoying. Somehow, out of all the people in town, he makes a point to bother Kev at work. Whether it be stealing candy, being a bit of a dick, or oh so boldly FLIRTING with Kev during his shift, he lives to be an annoying little shit in his 7'4 stature.
Course, it doesn't help that Kevin is really easy to piss off. Like a grumpy cat, if ya ask Frank.
Though, push came to shove and unintentionally, Kevin got used to the company. Even fond of it. Oh if only it could be that simple. An unlikely meet cute.
Of course, it could never be THAT simple. Frank doesn't exactly like to be serious in... most things. And Kev doesn't exactly like to actually process what's going on in his head. Avoidant behaviors, therapy friends, and miscommunication that makes us all groan, all in a candy sweet bow. -

Summary
After getting back from sea with his brother, Stanford, Stanley himself has a whole shitload of things to do. Including, legally give his brother his name back WITHOUT all the legal baggage. Of course, thats as complicated as it sounds.
Stan though, luckily has a lawyer. A man just as shady as him, and actually able to translate legal paperwork into basic human english. His name's Don, Don Crooks. A handy lawyer, and an even more handsy man.
What, did you expect Stan to have a NORMAL relationship with someone and it NOT be complicated? You're funny.
They've been at this game for years. Don and Stan have a normal client/lawyer relationship with a hint of friendship outwardly, and behind closed doors are practically attached at the hips. Neither are exactly happy with this, but its the way things are! No changing it now.
Till things do start to change. Don's tired. Tired of this cycle, and tired of being in an off and on with a man he doesnt know if he loves him or not. Both need each other. Both WANT each other, but its impossible to admit that, even to themselves. -

Stan is used to nightmares. hes had the near exact same one every night. the motion machine, his brother, trying to fix it. the usual jist. or nightmares of repeating memories. his worst moments, always clocking back to when ford was shoved through the portal by him.
but this nightmare was... different. it wasnt just ford. it wasnt just the past. it was now. it could completely happen, and as tough as Stan acts, somethings still get to him.
