Max gets Hopper to show up when Neil goes a little too far one night. The Chief takes her and Billy in for the night (and maybe more). Now Billy has to come to terms with everything that's happening, and of course Steve has to show up while he's trying to deal with it all.
“C’mon, kid,” the Chief said to him, gesturing toward the kitchen. “Let’s get you some ice for that face, and then I’ll show you where you can sleep.” Turning to Max, he said, “You can head on in with El for the night.”
“Thanks, Hop,” Max mumbled and hurried off through the door to, he guessed, El’s room.

“I’ll do worse than that if you untie me,” Hargrove growled, as if making threats from the position he was in was somehow normal.
“Yeah, because that makes me want to untie you,” Steve snarked back without thinking. Then he sighed and dragged a hand through his hair. He didn’t sign up for this shit. “Listen, yes this sucks, but it’s only for a couple of hours. Why don’t you just chill?”
“I’ve been fucking kidnapped, you fuck! I’m supposed to play the finals right now, not kick back and relax while being fucking tied to a chair!”

The second the nurse was gone, the bed next to Steve squeaked, and the curtain was yanked aside to show him his own face, bruised, cut, and weirdly shaped outside of a mirror. “Shut up, Harrington,” it hissed, and Steve made a noise in the back of his throat, like a dog. “Shut up. If you say anything, they’ll lock us up, cool your jets—”
Steve tried to talk again, and made a perfectly reasonable squawk this time.
“Shut up shut up,” hissed his face. “They won’t believe you, we’ll never get out of here—” It yanked its arm, and Steve registered it was handcuffed as well. That thought was reassuring, and Steve drank the water when the nurse returned and pressed the straw between his lips, falling asleep content that the thief that had stolen his face wasn’t going anywhere.
The car crash with Billy Hargrove has some unexpected results--for one, Billy thinks Steve rescued him for Reasons, and wants to kiss. Steve is reluctantly warming to the attention, and to top it off, they're...each other.

“There were, of course, exceptions. Billy could usually tell when Neil wasn’t having a good day. The older man started drinking as soon as he got home from work, and anything that left Billy’s mouth was taken the wrong way and meant he was asking for it.
Other than those occasions though, it was fine. Everything was fine.
And then, Steve fucking Harrington came and ruined “fine” for him.”
Or, throughout his life, Billy Hargrove learned that touch could be painful and that most times he was better off without it. When he met Steve Harrington, Billy learned better.
