Summary
The little briefcase whirs slowly to life. She gives a low, sluggish chirp at Kaveh’s approach. He doesn’t smile. Instead, his fingers trail across the seams of her casing, checking each latch and joint with unusual severity.
Alhaitham closes the book, marking his page. “What’s wrong with her?”
Kaveh startles slightly, as though he hasn’t realized he’s being watched. His mouth opens, irritation flickering there—ready to scold, no doubt, for prying after this morning’s quarrel—but then he sighs, rubbing at his temple.
“She’s been… off.” He mutters the word like it doesn’t quite fit. “This morning she was sluggish. Commands lagging. Like she couldn’t keep up with me. She’s not supposed to do that.”
Mehrak starts malfunctioning at random intervals, and Alhaitham and Kaveh are determined to figure out why.

Summary
“Maybe I’ll find someplace better,” he knows there will not be another place that fits him better than here, where Alhaitham is.
“Does it come with someone better, too?”
Alhaitham sounds almost vulnerable, as if he’s had half a mind of worry that someday, Kaveh will leave and settle for something better, something and someone he actually deserves.
“If so… Are you going to stop me?"
Alhaitham and Kaveh enjoy their day off together.

Summary
Alhaitham had always thought that Kaveh was his only exception to everything. So why does he suddenly not mind that two more people are invading his space, his house and his quiet? It seems there is only so much you can go through together, from endless game nights to fighting a coup, before you implicitly start trusting each other.

“Give me your Akasha Terminal, you’re being hypnotized right now.”
After a long and awkward pause, Kaveh dropped his fork because one, it was nine in the morning on a weekend and that certainly wasn’t the first thing he expected to hear from a clearly sleep-deprived Alhaitham. And two, that sounded downright fucking insane.
“Are you right in the head?” He asked the man, only receiving a tired and angry glare in response, “A hello or something would have been nice before saying all of… that. I think your lack of sleep is getting to you, Alhaitham.”
“I can’t sleep at night because you’re so loud when you’re masturbating that your moans leak into the next room,” The man gritted out, bringing a hand to pinch at his nose bridge, “Our bedrooms share a wall.”
OR
Developing insomnia from the stress of the Palace of Alcazarzaray's aftermath and moving in with Alhaitham, Kaveh discovers the miracle that was some phony sleep hypnosis video he downloaded to his Akasha Terminal. When it starts affecting his life more than he ever planned, and in ways he wasn't conscious to realize, it's up to Alhaitham to step in and eventually bridge the gap between them.
