Wednesday’s fists gripped her pillow tightly. The skin over her knuckles felt like it was going to tear if she didn’t loosen her grip soon. “Fine,” she said through gritted teeth. “Go back to sleep, Enid.”
“Was it the Legally Blonde nightmare again?”

Xavier shrugged. “All I know is that this seems to be the key.” He stepped back and indicated something on the side. Wednesday frowned and walked around to stand at his side. The key. Her hand, outstretched in front of the gate, easily falling open at her slightest touch. Goody’s piercing gaze.

“You’ve drawn the monster dozens of times,” she observed, picking up a loose sketch from the worktable. “Are these self-portraits?”
“Do you know what your problem is?” he snatched the sketch from her roughly, ignoring her question. “You don’t know who your real friends are. I’ve been on your side since day one. I literally saved your life.” Wednesday opened her mouth to take that point and skewer him with it. Why had the monster spared her? Xavier ranted on, his voice rearing up in volume. “I believed your theories when nobody else did.” The monster on canvas behind him peeled itself off the surface and lunged at his neck, punctuating his rant with a slash of its gnarled claw.
“Xavier!”
He fell back against his easel, knocking it over. Paint splattered them both. Wednesday scrambled to find something to stop the bleeding.

“Hey, Addams.” It was dark where he was. His hair, longer now, brushed the sides of the frame. “Did you mean to FaceTime me or is this a fluke?”
“Ajax said you weren’t returning,” she initiated bluntly.

Nico both loved and hated that Will knew him so well, because his heart couldn’t take it when Will purposefully leaned into his accent. It was unfair, in Nico’s opinion.
“Your brother is a menace, Macy.” Nico muttered, laying out and stretching out again as Macy blinked tiredly at him. She wouldn’t respond, but that was okay. He brushed her hair out of her face, and noted that she seemed more comfortable on her stomach for the day, some days she couldn’t stand to be on her stomach. Though Nico wondered if it was because she was so tired, with it being around the time she typically woke up from a nap that she hadn’t yet taken.

Nico couldn’t believe how lucky he was.
In a time of uncertainty, when he’d been terrified of being an outcast, especially when his world had been flipped upside down, and the only ‘normal’ he had was his sister, his now very dead sister..
He’d found friends. Friends that he knew would drop everything if he just asked (in which, conversations were very much needed about boundaries and such, especially considering how many were either self-sacrificing, a people pleaser, or even both), and that meant the world to him.
Even if they might’ve had a rocky start at the beginning. It was no fault of either person, but of circumstances and things out of their control.
Nico let out a melancholy sigh.
“Are you brooding again?”
The son of Hades jumped, twisting in place, to be met with– “Wha- Percy? I’m not brooding!”
"Uh-huh, righttt."
..Keeping in his groan (because he knew Percy would only use that to further his ‘emo rebellious teenager’ picture), he snapped out, “What.”
“You’re due for some mandatory bonding time with the others.”
Nico felt like just dropping on the bed of his very vampire-esque cabin. “You’re not my mom.”
