The Check hovers in front of them, mocking. Because this isn’t just Dream’s kid. It’s Ink’s kid as well. His kid - his son, according to the Check - pulls on Ink’s face. Ink lowers their head, allowing his son to stick his little fist into their eye socket. His baby coos and giggles in awe.
Ink thinks that this is the most scared he has ever been.

Dream has a tough time, Ink tries to help in a way that he can.
“I thought those were bad for monsters? Or is it fine because you’re immortal? But doesn’t it hurt? Wait- no, you’re just immune to aging, not harm. I’M eternal…then why..? Ink spiralled into his little vortex of barely connected topics, almost entirely forgetting that he had company.
Dream chuckled, a soft, tired smile crossing his face. He found it rather adorable how Ink was so prone to forgetting everything and going on never-ending tangents. He listened carefully for a few moments before interrupting.
“Yes, They are bad for me, but, they help me… clear my thoughts I suppose. I’m not- I don’t–” He stopped mid-sentence, then sighed and looked up at the night sky. So long for a distraction. He stepped back out of touching range and took a drag of the bitter smoke, exhaling it away into the wind.
