Shouta's gaze moved to his hand, where a tiny, chubbier one wrapped around his index finger.
He looked at the kid whose eyes are puffy, red, and shiny like he's been crying and giant green irises stared at Shouta’s hand with a level of focus that only a child can have. He turned his gaze to the mother intending to get her attention but the notion died as he scanned the woman, distracted with a not-so-good looking phone call if the worried frown pinching her face and her fingers wringing in the front of her cardigan is any indication.
He sighed and let the kid play with his fingers, cooperating by turning his hand over when it was gently tugged, and watched the toddler count the lines on his palm in tiny murmurs and intense concentration, poking each one as he went, tired little sniffles every few seconds filling the silence. Looks like Shouta isn’t the only one who had a shitty day.

Aizawa Shouta, a new prohero, planned on getting some sleep on the train after a long exhausting day, like he always does, before heading back to the police station, but his plans get left at the train stop when a young mother and her toddler board his train.

There are a lot of things Paul could say when Darry explains he’s gotta go shopping for a coat after school today. “I’ll come with you,” is not at all what Darry expects.
He tries to dodge the offer, nice as it is. Why would Paul want to waste a perfectly good fall afternoon, their first one without practice or a game in weeks, cooped up in some dingy store? Didn’t he have anything better to do? What about all his other friends that are always throwing parties?
But Paul won’t let it go and Darry can’t say no to him and suddenly the school day is over and they’re in Paul’s car and he’s asking for directions. So apparently this is happening.

KitKat Curtis has always been close to her brothers and their friends. As the older twin between her and Pony, Kit has been the quiet glue that helped hold her family together after so many tragedies. Her family finds out just how much they need her when she's taken out of their home. After Ponyboy is accused of murder and runs away, Social Services deems their home an unsafe environment for a fourteen year old girl. Despite Darry's promise to get her home as soon as possible, it takes 6 months to get her home. A mismanaged case causes Kit to be thrown into her worst nightmare. By the time she gets home, it's hard to say how much of her truly returned.
This story is an exploration of grief, trauma, and healing, while trying to navigate difficult sibling relationships. AU in the respect that Dally and Johnny survive! Please read the tags and the notes at the beginning of each chapter for trigger warnings.
