Summary
When Will showed up on his door step after everything had ended, Mike never thought they would end up where they did. Will had knocked softly on the basement door just before midnight, exactly one week after they had saved the world, and scarred their own forever. Mike had been laying on the old couch, some movie he had seen a thousand times droning in the background; he wasn’t paying attention to it though. His head was full of everything else.
—
Months after the final battle, Mike reflects on the week following the horrors of that night, and how events lead him right into the arms of the boy he loves most: Will Byers.

Summary
Dear Will,
I’m sorry that I haven’t written sooner - I haven’t been sure what to say or how to say it. It’s not the same without you here. Nothing feels important without you here. Everything feels too important without you here. Everyone misses you,
I miss you.The Party isn’t the same without you.—
My take on the letters that Mike and Will wrote to each other during the Byers’ time in Lenora. Some sent, some not.

Summary
Mike stands on the Byers’ front stoop shivering in the cold December night. He knocks softly on the Byers’ front door, fingers cold and stiff from the bike ride over here. It’s late and he isn’t sure who might answer the door at this time of night. He knows someone is awake in the living room by the faint glow of the tv through the sheer curtains. Mike expects Hopper, maybe Jonathan. He’s surprised when it’s Will who answers the door. Mike can now hear the faint drone of whatever movie is playing inside drifting out into the night. He barely registers it as his eyes roam over the boy in front of him, soaking him in; the boy who is bathed in golden light from the front porch lamp. Ethereal.

That one time that Max lets it slip that Will was in love with Mike (and might still be) and then Mike freaks out before confessing his own feelings to Will.

Summary
Will opens the fridge with a small pop of the door seal, and reaches in to grab two Gatorade bottles off the top shelf; yellow for himself, and orange for Mike. The glass bottles clink against one another as he passes one to Mike. As he goes to take the offered bottle from Will, it slips between their fingers and shatters loudly across the linoleum; orange liquid splashing both of their pants. Immediately, Will tenses. They hear Lonnie startle awake with a grunt from the living room. Will looks towards Mike with fear plastered across his face, a fear that gives Mike pause.

Summary
A vivid memory flashes to the forefront of Will’s mind: he’s standing in front of the bathroom mirror in their old house in Hawkins. Flashes of vines crawling up the walls, and then that dark, sick feeling deep inside. He remembers leaning over the porcelain sink, retching, please no. He coughs up that dark, slimy slug into the sink basin. The next thing he knows, he’s back on the field of his old middle school, the Mind Flayer reaching toward him with its smokey black extremities. He screams “Go away!” and the thick smoke envelopes him. He can feel it everywhere.
There’s a loud crash and Will jumps at the noise. He’s pulled back to reality, back to their kitchen in Lenora. He’s breathing quick and shallow and he’s clutching the counter top behind him with white knuckles.

November 6th, 1985, the anniversary when Will is in Lenora without his friends - without Mike.

Summary
When Will needs to get his thoughts out of his head, he writes a letter he never intends to send. He addresses it to Mike, and tells him everything.
Feeling lighter than he has in weeks and buoyed by the adrenaline of writing it all out, Will acts on an impulse and ends the letter with, "If you’d be willing to give me a chance, I’d be really happy to date you. If you’re open to trying it, please meet me in Castle Byers this Saturday at 2:00pm. I’m not asking for any promises, I’m not asking for forever or anything like that; all I’m asking is that you give me a chance. Come if you want; if not, I completely understand, no hard feelings, and I’ll never, ever mention this again."
He forgets all about the letter, and the distinctive red envelope he stowed it in, until he turns around to find it missing. Now, Will has to think of some way to stop Mike from reading that letter - or should he wait at Castle Byers on Saturday at 2:00pm and pray for a miracle?

Summary
Beauty was in the eye of the beholder, but Mike disagreed.
There was no world where anyone could argue that Will was only beautiful to certain people, because that simply was not true.
Will had been personally crafted by Aphrodite herself and Mike knew, without question, that if a blind person were to press their fingertips against Will's face and dragged them across his skin, they could tell that the boy poured heart-stoppening, maddening beauty from every single one of his pores.

Ever since Henry died alongside the Upside Down, Mike spent his nights listening to the breathing of one Will Byers right next to him on his bed.
Mike stared, and he wanted.

Summary
His Mom smiles at him with a knowing look, and Jonathan has an arch to his brow like he wants to ask more – but before either can, there’s the sound of a thud.
Will’s smile falls into his stomach. It wrenches with fear, with horror.
All three look to the entrance of the lounge, the direction of the thud.
“Shit,” says someone out of sight, just beyond the entrance, almost too soft to catch.
Will’s blood runs cold, because he knows that voice, knows the specific lilt of it.
“Mike?"
Or, Will comes out on his own terms, to the two people who truly matter - and is overheard by the one other person who means the most. In wake of the revelation, they decide to split off and take the final battle with Vecna into their own hands, all while navigating the undeniable pull that grows between them.

“Forever?”
Though the camera doesn’t catch it, Joyce and Jonathan exchange an amused look over the rearview.
Then, the footage splices, rapidly cutting through various points in life—Will and Mike’s first time hanging out at the Byers’; Mike coming over for Will’s birthday; Will coming over for Mike’s. Flashes of middle school that stretched into those final days before they left for Lenora. High school, graduation, moving day—the clips start blurring into one another as more pop up, but it stops on a clip of Mike and Will, probably around six years old, giggling as they try to handle the camera.
“We’ll see about forever, honey.”
(or, the one where jonathan byers has a lot of stocked up video footage from when mike and will were kids, and decides that the best time to reveal them is during his best man speech at their wedding.)

Summary
With the Byers temporarily living under the Wheelers' roof, Mike and Will are forced into a proximity they’ve been desperately trying to avoid, after both getting sick. Between shared blankets and hazy fever dreams, the lines they’ve drawn between friendship and something more begin to blur, forcing them to confront a reality neither is ready to name.
Or
Mike and Will are in love with each other, but they're too scared to admit it, so it takes a delirious fever for them to finally stop lying to themselves, with childhood memories and an angry confession in the rain.
"He realized, with a terrifying clarity, that he would trade every bit of safety and normalcy for just one more second of Mike Wheeler looking at him like he was the only thing that mattered in the world."
