Summary
“Su’cuy, Boba,” Din says as casually as he can with all the excitement he feels. Excitement and dread. His blaster rifle is primed, resting across his hands.
“That’s a voice I’d know anywhere—Din Djarin,” Boba Fett says, his voice as deep and desert rough as ever, but still filled with the same joy Din would expect from him. He almost hates that he’s here on business. Boba continues as he rinses his face, “Let me get this soap out of my eyes.” He starts to turn around. “I heard you were in Mos Eisley—” He sees the blaster rifle. “What’s the idea with the gun?”
“Just until I find out whose side you’re on, Boba,” Din says as neutrally as he can. He doesn’t want his emotions to be involved in this. The two of them have been through a lot together. “I heard you were working with Mok Shaiz.”

Summary
Din and Boba are in Boba’s quarters, as is usual at the end of a long day. What is slightly unusual is Boba is propped back against the bar with a pipe in his hand filled with a medicinal grade of spice. His entire body hurt for reasons that eluded him, starting a little bit before the second sun hit its peak. It happened from time to time, and spice helped alleviate the pain and kept him from having to seal himself away for hours in a bacta pod. The effects weren’t bad if kept to a low dose, and Boba—being the official head of a crime syndicate—had access to whatever kind of dosage he desired.
And he desired the kind that the elderly used for arthritis rather than the kind used to taste colors and hear scents.
Boba takes a deep inhalation and holds his breath a moment before exhaling a cloud of bluish vapor. He looks at the pipe and says, “This tastes like my caf.”
“Must taste like candy, then,” Din says with a smirk. Din is always amused by the number of sweeteners and other enhancements Boba adds to his caf, but Boba also thinks that there is no point in drinking a stim if it tastes like engine oil smells.

Boba Fett is hovering in that shaky place between awake and asleep when he hears his comm chirp. It’s the pattern indicating only one of two people, and considering the other is currently in residence of the palace, he answers, “Where are you, Mandalorian?”
“About an hour out,” Din Djarin answers in a near growl. It’s been almost a month since he’s been to the palace and Boba has missed him, especially since the whole time he has been on Tatooine. But business is business. He says, “You gonna meet me at the gate?”
“No,” Boba says, his eyes still closed, arms crossed against his chest and comm held towards his face. “But I will attempt to wake up.”
“I knew you cared,” Din says with a laugh at the end that makes Boba smile. “I have a surprise for you.”
Boba laughs softly. “What kind of surprise?”
“One you’ll like,” Din says. He sounds so confident; Boba shakes his head.
