A lord of the flies AU set in the future, after an apocalypse that causes people to become sort of zombie vampire type creatures who spread their disease through biting and eventually rot and die. The only survivors left in their city are Jack’s group and Ralph’s group. Jack and Ralph are sworn enemies, but what will happen when crisis pushes them together?
(Jack and Ralph are 16, everyone else is 14-16 apart from Robert who is 12)

Summary
Ralph and Jack circle each other in the fragile space between rivalry and reluctant connection as the island continues to divide them. Ralph, still trying to hold onto order and community, catches glimpses of something quieter and more vulnerable beneath Jack’s hardened, violent exterior.

Their usual arguments give way to brief, honest conversation, where Jack admits, in his own guarded way, how fear and loss have shaped him into someone who chooses control over connection. Ralph pushes back, insisting things don’t have to stay broken, even as he struggles to believe it himself.
Through small, charged interactions—shared silences, almost-touches, and moments of reluctant honesty—the distance between them shifts slightly. Nothing is resolved, and the tension remains, but for the first time, there’s a flicker of mutual understanding beneath the conflict.
