Magic is all around us. It exists in us, the things we touch, the things we create, the homes we inhabit. Wizards and witches can even harness magic to work for them. So what happens when the Magic vanishes without a trace?
Mere seconds after the death of Albus Dumbledore, Hogwarts school and everyone who finds themselves on the premises suffers an inherent change to their lives as magic ceases to exist. The world outside Hogwarts remains the same, but with aurors unable to enter and students unable to leave, the entirety of the wizarding world begins to wonder what will happen next.
Hermione, with a rather unlikely study group, scours every book in the school for some whiff of an answer and finds the promise of one in the diary of a student long since passed. But opening that can of worms comes with an inevitable array of extra questions, questions that can only be answered by Salazar Slytherin’s youngest and truest heir.
Draco Malfoy is lost without his magic, but finds a power much darker. Can he learn to control it in order to help his new friendships, and new potential love? Or does he let it control him and guide him back into the arms of the dark lord?

Apparently, in the wizarding world, having a predestined soulmate is completely normal.
Honestly, Harry really shouldn’t be surprised anymore; after all, he’s been living almost nine years in the world of witches and wizards, having come across his fair share of crazy both during his years at Hogwarts and afterwards in his job as an Auror. And so, when his twentieth birthday arrives and a single letter appears on his right wrist, it honestly shouldn’t affect him so.
Meanwhile, Draco Malfoy is busy getting his life back on track. With the war over, the Dark Lord defeated, his father incarcerated in Azkaban for life, and his new status as an Auror, Draco should for once have no difficulty enjoying his life. Except, there’s the minor issue of Harry Potter apparently being his soulmate to consider.
When someone starts trying to murder Harry, Draco is assigned as his protection. And although neither of the two have any idea what awaits them on the path ahead, one thing’s for certain: This will either end in bloodshed, or something far, far worse.
But, yeah, no need to panic.

But when she's captured and made prisoner at Malfoy Manor, of all the dark and evil ways she'd envisioned Malfoy would torture her, she never quite imagined anything this horrific.I just wanted to make it abundantly clear that I was originally inspired to write this fic after I read the masterpiece that is Manacled, so I would like to thank SenLinYu for her amazing work! The memory searching aspect of Manacled is what inspired me, and although I have adapted that, (and also made Draco head Death Eater, because... ya know... we all love it when he's Voldemort's right hand man 😅😉), Secrets and Masks will be a very very different fic all together.
