Summary
Rayne stood at the head of the table. “Today’s meeting concerns academy safety reforms.”
Margarette immediately booed.
Abel nodded approvingly. “An appropriate topic after the Rabbit King Incident.”
Rayne’s eye twitched slightly. “We are not calling it that.”
Margarette leaned forward. “History already has.”

Summary
Father sat exactly as Domina had expected him to: upright, composed, hands resting loosely in his lap as though he were a guest rather than a prisoner. Time had not softened him. If anything, it had distilled him into something quieter and sharper, like a blade that no longer needed to be drawn to be dangerous.
“It’s been a while, Father.”
Father’s eyes shifted, just slightly, as Domina approached. “Domina.” No warmth. No surprise. Just recognition.
For a second, just a second, Domina felt that old pull. That old instinct to stand straighter, to prove something, to be seen. It passed.
“I wasn’t sure if you’d still be here,” Domina said, stopping a few steps away. “But I guess nowhere else would hold you.”

Summary
“You should be dead,” Lévis said quietly.
“I was supposed to be,” Domina replied.
Another small sway. This one harder to hide.
Lévis’s fingers twitched. “Then why are you here?”
That question lingered longer than the others. He wasn’t sure why he asked it. He wasn’t sure he wanted the answer.
Domina hesitated. For the first time since Lévis had known him, since he had observed him from a distance, measured him, compared himself against him, Domina Blowelive hesitated.
“I…” His voice faltered slightly. “…I had nowhere else to go.”

Summary
Margarette leaned forward. “Rayne, tell me something.”
Rayne waited.
“Why are we here?”
Rayne blinked. “To maintain order.”
Margarette spread their arms dramatically. “Order is the enemy of creativity!”
Abel calmly added: “Order is the enemy of chaos.”
Margarette pointed at him. “You see? Even the puppet tyrant understands.”
Abel stared. “I literally said the opposite.”

Summary
They both knew this wasn’t just a birthday.
For Lovie, it marked another year of fragile health regained. Another year he was here, smiling, alive, trying.
For Lévis, it was a silent acknowledgment of survival. Of pressure endured. Of expectations fought.
And for Domina and Galuf, it was the first birthday they would celebrate not as rivals. Not as distant allies, but as something softer. Something terrifying. Something worth planning glitter explosions for.
Domina straightened, regaining his usual composed expression. “We have three hours before dinner.”
Galuf cracked his knuckles. Acid magic shimmered faintly around his hands before he suppressed it. “Then let’s make it perfect.”

Summary
“Don’t let them talk down to you, Pretty Boy ,” Dot muttered.
Orter’s gaze sharpened.
Lance’s voice remained calm. “They will not.”
Dot shot Orter one final glare, a promise of future arguments, before turning sharply and marching back toward the doors. They closed behind him. Silence deepened.
Orter descended the steps slowly, each footstep measured. “You understand,” he said, stopping two paces from Lance, “that becoming a Divine Visionary does not grant you immunity from scrutiny.”
“I expect none.”
“Good.”

Dot turned away, fists clenched. His chest burned, hot and sharp.
Of course. Of course Lance would trust him. Of course Lance would feel safe with him. Because Dot was just Dot. Loud. Reliable. Someone who’d always be there, but never the one chosen.
“I won’t do it if you don’t want to,” Lance said softly. “I’ll understand.”
Dot closed his eyes. He wanted to scream. To punch something. To confess everything and ruin it all. Instead, he sighed.
“Tch. You’re such a pain,” Dot muttered. “You know that?”

For a moment, neither spoke. Then Abel did something very uncharacteristic. He leaned forward and pressed his forehead gently against Abyss’s. The contact was light. Reverent.
“Rest,” Abel murmured. “You’re safe. And when you wake up…” He paused, just long enough to let the words settle. “…we’ll face everything together.”
Abyss closed his eyes, smiling through exhaustion and pain. “I’d like that,” he whispered.

“Hey, pretty boy!” Dot called over his shoulder. “We’ll be back later. Don’t worry, big bro’s got her.”
Lance watched them go, Anna chatting animatedly while Dot listened like it was the most important conversation in the world.
His chest tightened in a way that felt suspiciously like relief. “Take care of her,” he muttered, too quietly for either of them to hear.

“You passed,” Lévis said, voice rough.
Lovie laughed, breathless and disbelieving. “Apparently.”
For a heartbeat, neither of them spoke.
Then Lévis reached out and pulled him into a fierce, unapologetic embrace. Lovie stiffened in surprise, then relaxed, arms coming up to cling just as tightly.
“I’m proud of you,” Lévis said quietly. “So damn proud.”
Lovie’s voice wavered. “I thought I’d fail.”
“But you didn’t,” Lévis interrupted.

“You survived,” Doom said.
Domina met his gaze. “So did you.”
.“You look thinner,” Domina said.
Famin laughed lightly. “Ah, straight to observation. Have you been spending time with him too long?”
.Domina’s eyes lingered on the pudding. “You still like it.”
“It is consistent,” Epidem said. “Comforting, even.”
.Domina rubbed his temple. “You’re not allowed to do that.”
“Correction,” Delisaster replied, swinging slightly. “I wasn’t allowed. The guard left.”
.“You look well, Domina.”
Domina’s fists clenched. “You don’t get to say my name like that.”

Summary
“You’re pacing,” Galuf said eventually, not even looking up.
Lévis stopped mid-step. “I always pace.”
“Yeah,” Galuf replied. “But this time it’s the bad kind.”
That earned a sharp glance. “And you’re an expert on my moods now?”
Galuf finally looked at him, crooked grin softening into something quieter. “I’ve slept in this room five times, kissed you... well, I lost count after the twelfth time, and almost got electrocuted once. I’d say I’ve earned the right.”
Lévis scoffed, turning away, fingers tightening at his sleeves. That was the problem. Galuf had earned things. Space. Familiarity. A place close enough to notice when Lévis’ breathing changed, when his eyes went flat instead of sharp. Too close.

Lance met his eyes, steady and unflinching. “You’re reckless. Loud. Constantly distracting.”
“HEY!”
“And,” Lance continued, cutting him off, “you’re honest. You don’t turn away when things get difficult. You stay.”
Dot’s mouth closed.
“I’ve noticed,” Lance said quietly. “More than I intended to.”
The hallway felt suddenly too small.
“Lance...” Dot muttered, rubbing the back of his neck, “are you saying what I think you’re saying?”
“Yes.” Just that. Simple. Certain.

Summary
Lévis stared at the pile of wrapped gifts like they were unexploded bombs.
“Remind me again,” he said flatly, “why I agreed to this.”
Kenny beamed. “Because it’s fun!”
“Incorrect,” Lévis snapped. “Because you threatened to tell people about the balcony.”
Domina, standing beside him, tilted his head. “I thought you agreed because you said it would be ‘socially suspicious’ to refuse.”
Lévis hissed, “Stop remembering things accurately.”
Domina nodded. “Understood.”

Kenny clapped his hands once. “Alright, team. We have an emotionally constipated lightning mage and a stoic water mage who clearly like each other and have no idea.”
Galuf cracked his knuckles. “Which means…”
Charles beamed. “…Intervention.”
Malcolm closed his notebook “Recommended method: social pressure via controlled game environment.”
Lévis’s eyes widened. “Why do I feel like I’m about to regret being alive?”
Kenny grinned and produced an empty can from his pocket, letting it spin across his fingers. “Oh don’t worry,” he said cheerfully. “You will.”

Summary
Domina whispered, almost afraid to break the silence. “Why me?”
Lovie squeezed his hand.
“Because you’re like water,” he said. “Strong, restless, sometimes stormy, but always moving toward something.” He smiled softly. “And I want to be there when you find where you’re going.”
Domina swallowed hard.
He didn’t understand why Lovie chose him. But he knew, deep, deep inside, that he wanted to stay by Lovie’s side. Wanted to return the warmth he’d been given. Wanted to let himself be held by the person who calmed his tides.

“Make a world where people… where kids… don’t have to die like this.” A pause. “Promise me you’ll build a world of… order. Peace. Safety.”
Orter wanted to scream no. Wanted to refuse that burden. Wanted to tell him to stay awake, to fight, to not leave him with impossible expectations. But Alex’s eyes, barely open, held trust. Trust that burned.
Orter nodded. Not because he believed in it. Not because he wanted to. But because it was Alex, and Alex had believed in him long before Orter believed in anything at all. “I promise.”

Summary
Lévis didn’t realize he was shaking until Lovie took his hand.

Summary
“You didn’t have to say yes,” Galuf murmured, voice still hushed from sleep and nerves.
Lévis regarded him with faint, analytical focus. “I do not say things I do not mean.”
Galuf’s chest tightened in the best possible way. “So... you wanted me to...”
Lévis didn’t blink. “I allowed it.” A pause. “And I did not dislike it.”
Galuf’s grin spread slowly, warm and disbelieving. “That’s your way of saying you liked it, isn’t it?”
Lévis opened his mouth to deny it, and didn’t. “I found it… agreeable,” he settled on, but the slight color rising along his cheekbones gave away more than he intended.

Summary
“Abyss.”
The name trembled between them.
Abel lifted his hand and laced his fingers with Abyss’s, slowly, deliberately, intimately. “Tell me.”
Abyss looked at him with shining, conflicted beauty. “I think I… I love you.”
Silence fell and Abel felt something in him unravel.
Not unpleasantly. Not painfully. But like a door opening he never knew was locked.
