Summary
Pity. Vessel was tired of seeing pity in those big, blue eyes.
Vessel would show him. He would complete the ritual. It was the real one this time. The drummer would finally realize how real their God was. And Vessel would finally show the world the meaning of the word devotion. He would fulfill his purpose to Sleep and get his awaited reward.
One last time, Vessel made sure the book and the translation he had worked on for weeks were inside his bag and left the house towards the abandoned cathedral.

Vessel and II have long been good friends, so it was only a matter of time before they moved in together for uni. Even if it was a bit unorthodox for an alpha and an omega, unmated at that, to live in such close quarters. But they weren't even in love, so where was the risk? Summary
"█████, please be reasonable," he pleads at his friend's bedside, stomach twisting and aching as he watches his best friend curl up into a tiny ball of blankets and shivering body, wrecked by a violent bout of coughing yet again.
"You know they—the Cure is not to be wasted on," █████ rasps before wheezing through another cough that he muffles against his blankets. "On a mere cold. I've taken my medicine, I'll be fine."
Except that's the same thing he had said earlier in the afternoon when his fever hadn't been as scalding against ██'s skin when he pressed his hand to his friend's forehead. And his hands—oh, his hands, ██ knows how badly they must hurt from all the clutching at the bedding when the cold weather already makes them tremble and ache, twisting them into something █████ is ashamed of.
"This is not right," ██ says, and it feels like a verdict he settles with himself. I will make it right, is what he doesn't say when he picks up a robe to throw over his nightshirt.
"You try to get some sleep, I'll get you more tea, okay?" ██ whispers against █████'s sweaty temple. "I'll be back soon," ██ promises before sneaking out the door.
He does not come back.

Vessel's fingers traced two small, distinct puncture wounds, his touch gentle, almost reverent. Before Ivy’s very eyes, they closed over, flesh knitting together, leaving no trace but for the slight stain of the blood on his pale skin. He lifted his head and two fangs descended from that perfect line of white teeth.
Then, it stuck him. A moment of panic, of sheer, bone-cracking terror. His breath hitched, his brain struggling to process the monster who had opened him up and fed from his blood. He felt hot tears fill his eyes, yet his body was unable to move.
Vessel’s eyes softened as he took in Ivy’s trembling lips, reddened from his own teeth. “Oh, my pet, none of that,” he murmured, gently pulling Ivy’s lip away. “Your turn is coming. And soon. I’m finding it increasingly difficult to let you out of my sight."

Summary
“I’m doing you a kindness by keeping myself covered." II does not deserve to see the face of his old friend desecrated. It is better he keep the memory of his last glimpse of Vessel untarnished, and remember him as he was, not as he is. Vessel had been bloody, then, dragged thrashing through the living forest of the Host, but at least he had been human. “Not many can look me in the eye without flinching.”
“I’m not like most,” II says boldly. His shortswords flash in the dark. “I do not flinch from anything.”
His unflinching confidence is one of the things Vessel most admires of him. To II, fear had only ever been another enemy to conquer.
“I will give you one last chance. Remove your cloak and come quietly, or face the edge of my blades.”
Fighting is not an option.
He runs.
Once, Vessel was the First Prince of House Veridian, destined to usher Arcadia into an age of glory with II, his bondmate and personal guard, by his side. Then he was captured by The Feathered Host, and everything he thought he knew was stripped away.
Now a member of the Host himself, Vessel struggles to reconcile what he is with where he wishes to belong.

Summary
As the spare heir to the throne of Arcadia, Vessel was never made for the crown. Not when, in a court that values dominance above all, he prefers Three's soft touches and Two’s steady protection.
Simply put, Vessel is a royal embarrassment and a danger to tradition.
So, what happens when tragedy forces him into the limelight, and a bold, unruly Alpha Lord arrives at court? Could Ivy be the answer to all of Vessel’s troubles… or just the beginning of even greater ones?
