How wonderful, Sirius thinks, to be so sure of the direction in which you’re headed and yet so free to wander down whichever path takes your fancy next. It’s something like the complete opposite of where he finds himself; no idea where he’s supposed to be going, and agonising over every turn along the way. The idea of happily floating from city to city, figuring oneself out on the road, is both intoxicating and utterly, utterly terrifying.
Sirius is a neurotic mess on an ill-advised assignment for a travel magazine. Remus is ten years his senior, writing his thesis whilst living in Paris. Wine is involved.

Rather than respond, Genya let out a panicked wheeze before devolving into a horrible coughing fit. Sanemi dropped to his knees and placed a comforting hand on his shoulder as Genya’s body was racked with coughs. He heaved and retched and Sanemi dragged over the bucket, quickly shoving it into Genya’s hands just in time. He hears an awful gurgling in Genya’s chest as he coughs up something wet. The substance is bright red and frothy and coats the bottom of the bucket in a horrific splatter.
Sanemi’s heart stopped in his chest. Blood. His baby brother was coughing up blood.

Summary
This is the way the world works: the sun rises in the east. The strong come out on top. Bakugou Katsuki rockets through life like a comet and Midoriya Izuku stumbles after. If he believed in such things Katsuki would say it was written in the stars. That some god of war had looked at him and said this one. That he’d been passed along a line to get his blessings – genius, willpower, fearless ambition – and dropped off on earth.
Then, of course, there is the question of Deku. The spitfire runt. Deku, no matter what the world does to him, never stops hoping.
Until, of course, he eventually does.
(Katsuki broke him. Snapped him in half like a twig and now has to scramble to put Deku back together. “We can do this, Deku," he says slowly. "There are so many mysteries that never got put to bed. Criminals roaming around looking to hurt people and you and me, we can fix that.”
There’s a long pause. The comforter slips a little off Deku’s skinny shoulders and drowns him. “You mean like a team?”
In that split second, Katsuki makes a decision he’s never even considered. He swallows his pride. “Yeah, Deku. We’d be a team.”)

His definition of victory, one of the greatest hero proteges he’d ever heard of, a glorious talent on the battlefield, of course. Beyond the public reasons, which everyone at Yuuei acknowledged, however reluctantly, Midoriya also loved the smaller things about Bakugou -- the tender way he smoothed his hands over his bed after it was made, the internal pep-talk he gave himself every morning in the mirror as he checked himself from all angles, the quiet, strained look he made when he actually managed to stop himself from speaking out of turn. Midoriya loved Bakugou’s diligence, his confidence, his self-assuredness.
He yearned the latter.
