This was mildly inspired by the original Shrek film, however it isn't derivative and just involves certain points I enjoyed.
When the princess became of marrying age, it became painfully aware that there were too many suitors for her, and the king and queen refused to believe that any of them were worthy. As such, they locked her up in a tower, guarded by a dragon, awaiting a prince who could come and save her. When she was finally freed from her prison, she asked her prince his name, only to find that her life was to become far more complicated.
