Kurt and Blaine were getting ready for Rachel's New Year's Eve party, when Blaine asked Kurt for one last dance of the year, in case their friends kept them talking and they didn't get to do it before midnight. The first dance was followed by another, then another… until they found themselves dancing in the middle of their living room at midnight (Not my words by the way.)
