When Langa takes a trip to visit family in Canada, both he and Reki find themselves despairing at the distance. Though neither is apt to admit their true feelings for the other, they miss each other desperately and so start exchanging texts whenever they can. Texts that turn rather scandalous when Reki accidentally sends a nude that he knew he never should have taken in the first place.
Yet, outside their fluctuating relationship, more sinister activities are afoot. Being in Canada has dragged Langa back to the days of the car accident that took his father's life and nearly robbed him of his own. An accident that may not have been an accident at all, if Reki's suspicions prove correct. It's dangerous territory to be investigating, especially if the killer is looking to finish what they started.

“Is it someone from class?”
Langa pushes his board back and forth, the little rumble of the tires filling the late afternoon quiet between them as he takes a deep, audible breath, looks directly at Reki, and nods. “Yes.”
And that’s a surprise. Reki tries not to let it show. “Have you guys been on any dates?”
“Yeah. I mean, I thought they were dates.”
That’s… kind of sweet. Sweet in the way that feels like it's going to make Reki sick. “How have you even had time for that?” he mutters. “You spend all your time with me.”

He sipped his whisky, thinking about all the times he told his underlings to stop pretending. “This isn’t a fairytale,” he’d spout, “Be ready for everything and anything. Life is gonna throw some shit at you, you gotta be prepared to deal with that.”
‘Deal with it’ in Sebastian’s books meant ‘Do not deal with it in any way, shape, or form’.
So that night he had stared down at his ring, pulled it off, set it on the dashboard in front of him. He had a tan line on his finger, blatant against his eternally sun-kissed skin, but he still felt different. The tan line would have to suffice as something for now, but he knew this wasn’t him letting go forever. He took his ring and threw it in the glove compartment.
