Once they met its gaze, its eyes dilated further, and the claws dug in slightly before loosening against, as if he had to remind himself to not harm them.

    “…Pursuer?” Caretaker blinked in surprise.

    It’s usual grin tugged back onto its face, and it leaned down to nuzzle against their head, cheek digging into the side of their head before it pulled back again.

    Caretaker was well aware that it knew she wasn’t dead now, but a part of her was screaming at herself to keep her eyes shut, that maybe she could keep this ruse up. The other said, “I’m a dead woman walking anyway. Might as well, right?”

    Her eyes slowly opened, as much as she felt so unsafe doing so.

    Orange eyes, staring down at her.

    Caretaker couldn’t believe it.

    She recognized it. Not just the species itself, but a specific member of said species. One that had been stalking her for weeks now.

    One that had grown quite fond of her. Too fond.
