Summary
When King Eurypon receives the prophecy that his son, Prince Mydeimos, will be "crowned in blood", he sacrifices the child to the Sea of Souls. The boy emerges only days later, becoming a Chrysos Heir seemingly impervious to death. Queen Gorgo thinks of another, kinder solution - sending her son off to be crowned elsewhere.
Mydei himself doesn't understand the whole truth of the circumstances around his arranged marriage to Lord Phainon in Okhema. However, he knows revealing his true power could put the marriage deal in jeopardy, and risk the rest of the Kremnoans' futures along with it.

“Please,” Phainon rasped, grin widening despite the knee digging into his ribs, “be eighteen.”
Mydei blinked, then frowned.
“I’m nineteen, asshole.”
Phainon’s laugh came out choked. “Thank Christ.”
