My therapist asked me to write this. Writing letters for therapy . . . and addressing it to the first person you think of? Lingyan, my twin, teased me about you for days when I told her. At least I never have to show you this.
I don’t think that is going to work. Nothing else has, at least. When I get overwhelmed, I just put on my headphones and drown out the world with Dear Evan Hansen or Heathers, but sometimes that doesn’t help. So I thought I might as well give this a try? It can’t get worse.

Summary
All it takes is one lie to change your life.
After falling into a honeypot of lies, Evan Hansen realizes that the one person who could end this ruse could possibly wake up any day now.
He shouldn't want Connor to wake up so he may hold onto this new identity he had formed: being "the best friend of a kid who attempted suicide", but the morality in his heart hopes Connor lives so that he may end this misery he had gotten himself into and come clean.
When Connor wakes up a week after his attempt, Evan dreads the inevitable cataclysm wherein the lie he has conjured comes to an end—but finds to his utmost relief (and horror) that Connor is playing along.
They make a deal. Convince everyone that they're best friends in exchange for a bearable Murphy household and the chance to be a part of something instead of fading in the background. What could possibly go wrong?
