Summary
Nobody talks much about the Noldor family anymore. Like saying any of their names aloud will bring their misfortune down upon the speaker: a lesson to be learned, a warning to be issued, a curse to be conjured.
The land where their farm once stood lies barren. It’s a desolate patch of scorched earth where even heartiest prairie grasses no longer wish to grow.
When anyone does dare to speak of them, they do so in hushed tones, furtive whispers behind closed doors and only in trusted company. The conversation is always the same: "Terrible, terrible business… Just goes to show, it’s dangerous living so far away from civilized life… Although… What if he was telling the truth… They never did find the body…"
