Jayce’s heart is beating like crazy, thudding loudly in Viktor’s ear - he must be stressed about the upcoming progress day, that must surely be it.
“We should go to bed Jayce, so you can sleep off all the alcohol you’ve consumed.”
“Just-” He pauses, hugging Viktor tighter to his own body, as if he’s scared Viktor is going to disappear if he doesn’t. “Just let me have one more minute of this, please.” He says oh so softly, barely above a whisper.
It tears Viktor’s heart apart, he sounds so vulnerable in a way he hasn’t heard before. Once again he finds himself completely unable to deny Jayce anything he wishes for. If Jayce wants Viktor’s body next to his, he shall have it - no matter the hurt it inflicts on Viktor himself.
They continue dancing back and forth in a rhythm that syncs with the low rumble of Jayce’s humming. Viktor never wants to let go, even though he knows that this is not his to possess nor keep - and it never will be.
Or; Viktor offers Jayce a place to sleep after the first night they meet eachother and somehow Jayce never manages to move back out. Time goes by and it gets harder and harder for Viktor to deny his strong feelings for Jayce - even if it's eating him alive.

Viktor feels himself nearing the precipice of something unknown, this zenith of pleasure that he had never reached. It was as if he was clawing his way up to an apex of satisfaction, and he had always chased this high. He had never come so close though, and Jayce was about to be his breakthrough.
Viktor concluded that he no longer craved a breakthrough in his research. Instead, he craved this breakthrough in immense pleasure. He craved the sweet release that Jayce would bring him, pushing him over the edge of no return.
And Gods, he wants so badly to fall over that edge. Oh, how he wanted to get lost in this feeling.

Jayce’s breath hitched, his heart pounding against his ribcage. He could almost hear the sly smile in the words, the unspoken challenge that Viktor so often carried in his tone.
“I want…” Jayce murmured aloud before catching himself, biting down hard on the word as though it might escape into the room and betray him.
The truth was that he wanted everything. The voice. The man. The way Viktor’s accent lingered on his name, transforming it into something intimate, like a secret only the two of them shared. Jayce couldn’t tell where his infatuation ended and his longing began, and he didn’t want to.
Not tonight.
Not when his hand moved so effortlessly down his torso, over the ridges of his abdomen, over the jut of his hip, fingers grazing the elastic waistband of his underwear.

The uncomfortable truth is that Harry can understand why he did it, all of it. He understands perfectly that there have always been bigger concerns than one lonely, misused boy (or two) at stake, that there is a Greater Good here the man has always been striving toward since longer than Harry's been alive. He gets it.
That doesn't make it hurt any less. It doesn't mean that Harry can forgive him either.
It doesn't mean that he can take back the way it's already changed his relationship with the man he thought was supposed to be his prophesied enemy. Or that he would want to now even if he could.
Their destiny is not to destroy each other as he once believed, although it still could be. It's more complicated than that. Their destiny is to make their own destiny, together, or be torn apart by it. He knows which one he prefers.
