Summary
Harry Potter ne va pas bien. Il ne dort plus, il mange à peine, et il a appris très jeune une vérité que peu de gens comprennent : exister trop fort coûte cher. Alors il s'efface. Il se fait petit, silencieux, fonctionnel. Ses amis ne remarquent rien. Personne ne remarque rien. C'est plus simple comme ça.
Draco Malfoy, lui, n'avait aucune raison de s'intéresser à Harry Potter autrement que pour le détester. Mais un soir d'octobre, dans une salle de classe vide, il tombe sur quelque chose qu'il n'aurait pas dû voir : Harry Potter assis par terre dans le noir, recroquevillé, absent. Et cette image refuse de le laisser tranquille.
Ce qui commence comme une observation clandestine devient peu à peu autre chose. Un regard qui s'attarde. Un carnet qui circule entre deux mondes. Des secrets partagés dans des salles désertes. Et pendant que Poudlard continue de tourner, indifférente, deux garçons apprennent à se voir sans les masques qu'ils portent... quitte à découvrir que sous les armures, il y a des fissures. Et que certaines fissures, une fois ouvertes, ne se referment plus.

“You know, I see the way you look at me on the ice,” Rozanov states. “Can smell the arousal coming off you each time we interact— especially when I check you into the boards, you really like that. Or when we chirp. You like that too. I don’t know a whole lot about what humans find attractive, but I think I made a good choice when I picked this disguise.”
What Rozanov is saying isn’t a lie— Shane has always found him incredibly attractive. Shane has never acted on his attraction towards him, of course, since being gay in the MLH would be a death sentence to his hockey career. No one knows he likes men, or that he’s attracted to Rozanov. —Well, except for Rozanov apparently... who is also apparently not human!
“Sometimes…” Rozanov muses, “when you come home from our games… you jerk off to the thought of me.”
“Can…can you read minds?” Shane asks, thinking that must be the case.
Rozanov chuckles in response— a genuine sound, not cruel or sinister, and Shane hates how it makes his heart flutters.
“I don’t need to read your mind,” Rozanov answers. “I just watch you do it.”“W...what?”
“I’ve been watching you for a looong time, Shane Hollander.”
