"But..." Wilbur hesitated, his voice dropping to a whisper. "The Crowfather's there."
"Prime, you're not seriously scared of that bird guy, are you? He's just a vigilante."
Wilbur bristled at the teasing tone. "The matron said he takes naughty kids to his nest and pecks their eyes out. I had nightmares about him."

Tommy thought this whole situation just kept getting weirder. „You broke in somewhere, just to get sandwiches? And I thought I was broke.“
„I'm not broke.“ Obviously indignant about the conclusion, the man glared at him.
„Says the guy stealing sandwiches.“ Tommy couldn't get rid of the grin that spread across his face.
„For the last time, kid. I didn't steal anything“ He started sounding really annoyed and for a second Tommy was thinking whether or not it was a good idea to rile him up that much. Then he remembered who he was.
„I'm not a child, and those are definitely stolen sandwiches.“
„I didn't steal them because they're mine and I was actually planning on sharing with you but if you want to throw a tantrum, fine, your loss.“ The stranger took the paper bag and turned towards the fire escape.
In a world full of superpowers, Tommy is trying his best to stay off the radar of heroes and villains alike. However when a young musician asked for his help, he thought the man was harmless enough. Even if he wanted to break into his own office, claiming he was locked out by his landlord.

Summary

There are hearts of soil, steady and patient. Hearts of ocean — salt-brined, tidal, storm-wracked. Some burn with the loyalty of a hound, or cry out with the voice of a cockatoo, bright-feathered and unquiet. Some are fox-hearted, all sharp teeth and soft fur, cunning stitched into every pulse.
But, oh — oh, to have a chameleon heart. A heart that shifts and shimmers, molding to its world with every breath. A heart that matches the color of the room, the tone of a voice, the expectation in another’s eyes. Always beating, always changing — never quite settling on its own, never belonging to itself.

And even when he injuries an officer or a hero, he only does it in self-defense. He targets specific people. Bad people.”
“Has he added you to that list of bad people?” Phil raised the boy’s arm to show the fresh stitches. “Because he sure does like to target you.”
“No, I think startled him this time. He doesn’t like when I come at him from behind, I think.”
