“Why,” Gihun said, voice trembling with the effort to hold it all in. “Why did you let me live?”
Inho blinked. His smile faltered, replaced by confusion, “What are you talking about?”
“I said,” Gihun was on his feet before he even realized it, the chair screeching across the floor as he lunged across the table. “Why did you let me live?!”
Seong Gihun is in a weird place. He finds out that everyone is alive and never experienced the Games. He assumes this is the afterlife and realizes perhaps he can finally heal.
Then he meets Hwang Inho.

Summary
Each of the men in Seong Gihun's family has died for a century at the hands of an unknown entity at 40 years of age. It was inevitable... some would wonder why anyone would bother keeping the family going- but Gihun was obviously not in luck. An entity was going to end his life tonight; he knew it, even if he tried to ignore reality in the arms of his mother, who rocked him back and forth with a soft voice begging for his safety to whoever would listen.
(Or: the fic where Inho fails to kill him, and Gihun and Inho learn to live together as human and demon, becoming closer as Inho starts to understand Gihun's life and maybe, the two unwittingly fall in love along the way?)

“If you can stare at my pictures at two in the morning with your hand down your pants through a screen alone,” he said, each word soft and deliberate, “then you can look at me now.”
Inho’s breath faltered but his fingers didn’t stop moving, they only slowed slightly, adjusting their rhythm in response to the quiet authority in Gihun’s voice. It was different now, less about friction, more about offering…about showing what had never been meant for anyone else to see.
He didn’t look away, not even when he felt the shift, not just in the air between them, but in Gihun’s posture, the way one hand moved across his own thigh, not hurried, just deliberate in its path. There was a pause, subtle enough to be mistaken for hesitation, though nothing about Gihun ever really hesitated.
Then his fingers slipped beneath the waistband of his shorts with the same calm that had carried every word he’d spoken so far. He didn’t break eye contact, didn’t lower his gaze or give Inho the mercy of distraction.
He simply started touching himself in silence, like it was the most natural thing in the world. Like this was always where the conversation had been heading.

It was the same set of argument points they’d gone over a million times. Gihun trailed off under the boy’s reproachful gaze. Inho shuffled over and took both of his hands in his.
“Ajusshi,” He said quietly, “you already know how I feel…”
He did. Hwang Inho had written him essays of exactly how he felt. Gihun had been a bit of a local heart throb when he’d been younger. He’d received a ton of notes and confessions from girls in highschool. But it was nothing like this, and certainly not from a wide-eyed twenty-year-old who had shown up on his doorstep and thrust a whole-ass novel in Gihun’s face confessing the extent of his feelings just a month after meeting him.
