(Extremly late game silksong spoilers, just in case anyone is reading fic summaries but hasnt beat the game yet)
Hornet collects all three hearts needed to enter the red memory and obtain the everbloom. The fourth heart she had collected causes the spell to do something it wasn't intended to do. It sends Hornet and the minds of Karmelita, Nyleth, Crust King Khann, and The Green Prince back in time to when the Citadel was first being established.

After the collapse of The Citadel under black threads, an enclosure deep within the Underworks is finally opened. Stepping out into the world is a guardfly, Lost and confused after years of isolation and experimentation. Fueled by cogwork and laced with the threaded Void, the shambling fly manages to somehow find a partner at the end of the world.

The Vessel opens her eyes. Where was she? She swiveled her horned head from side to side, before realizing that her memory had come to an end. She was back on the top of the world, where all one could see in the distance was a small, well lit town. The light had begun to dim recently, and there seemed to be less travelers passing by her little encampment, an abrupt stop happening only a few days prior.

So, like any bug with a hard shell and the mind of a maggot, she jumped down the cliffs, heading to the world beyond.
