Twenty years ago, Bucky's best friend disappeared. His new neighbor starts getting involved in his life and it's like something is bringing the two of them together.
Bucky picked dare. "I dare you to eat as much pizza as you can," Steve's mouth said before his brain could stop him.
Bucky didn't seem bothered, though. "Less for you," he shrugged, pulling the remaining three slices towards himself. "I can pack away another five slices, easy."
"Do you do this often?" Steve asked, getting flustered.

Fourteen years, two months, and seven days. That's how long James Buchanan Barnes was incarcerated. It was supposed to be fifteen years, but he got off for good behaviour. There had been one little catch, though.
(Ocean's 11 inspired-mostly based off the idea "What if Danny couldn't fit back into the suit he had when he got out of jail." I lifted the plot directly from Ocean's 11 and Infity War, because writing plots suck. The exception is this one's a lot more gay and weight gain centric.)

This was what “retirement” looked like: an apartment in their old neighborhood in Brooklyn, with big windows and wooden floors. Three bedrooms – one for Bucky, one for Steve, and one for guests, usually Sam or Nat, or very occasionally, Clint. A small but serviceable kitchen. Soft couches. Down comforters. Bucky had expected Steve to be a whirlwind of activity, volunteering with the VA or the fire department or visiting local schools or whatever ex-superheroes did, but to his surprise, Steve showed no inclination towards his usual busy get-shit-done attitude.
“I'm taking a year,” Steve said, when Bucky asked. “A year before I start thinking about what comes next. I just want to hang out, be a normal guy again, you know? Just for a little while. But if you want to find a job, or –”
“A year of nothing sounds great,” Bucky said, and Steve grinned.
