It could have been anyone, anyone at all. But it had to be them. Sometimes they wondered if they would rather have been the ones who disappeared. Because after the snap, everyone changed.
It's up to what remains of the Avengers to figure out what to do about this looming Thanos problem.
With the help of a Quill who wants revenge, the return of a long-forgotten enemy and the rabbit hole that is time travel, they know they have to give this "being a hero" thing a go. But do they really have what it takes?

Summary
Only eight men and women in England are affected by an unnamed disorder only referred to as "ghost syndrome", making them believe they are ghosts that have somehow been trapped on earth after their deaths.
Unable to function with their daily lives, they're locked up in Button House, a high-security psychiatric hospital where some of them have been staying for more than ten years. Until a cure for their psychosis is found, this is where they must stay. This hasn't stopped a total of twenty-five escape attempts, however, nineteen of which come from the same person.
When a new patient arrives, the hospital is suddenly sent into lockdown, and after they discover a secret about the person running the facility, they have to flee once and for all. However, their escape doesn't exactly go to plan.

Summary
This is my attempt at an alternate POV story from a Dmitri Desgoffe-und-Taxis centered perspective (basically playing on the unreliable narrator conundrum brought forth by the fact we are only told of the events surrounding TGBH from Zero's perspective).
Chapter one is exceptionally brief, basically just glossing over the family history throughout the ages and their place in "modern-day" Zubrowka (1932). The subsequent chapters focus on Dmitri's personal history, i.e. early childhood/adolescence, early adulthood/career, planning out and executing the murder of Mme. D.u.T.
So, basically, it mostly takes place way before most of the main events in TGBH. It is going to mostly center on Dmitri, but will divulge further detail on his family relations as well.

I shall pioneer the path for the absolute doll that is Bob Taylor. My interpretation of his character is that he was so traumatized by his own abduction that he couldn't let go of the regime. He embodied the abductor and just threw a spanner in the works (whilst holding the biggest damn hint with those mazes). Them drugs really did some damage to the bby.Why haven't yall written about him dammit??
