They say that fairy tales and magic were made as an excuse to explain what was unable to be described, to comprehend what couldn't be understood, while others saw it as a way to teach misbehaving children or to distract weeping ones from the cruel reality of life. Now, the more the world ages and we continue to age with it, we tend to discard these ideas of fairy godmothers, dashing brave knights, true love’s kiss, and even scoff at the idea that pure hearts of loyalty and justice could prevail against the corrupting clutches of evil. Some of that magic still endures in the hearts of children, those not yet faced by the cruelty of others, and even those who fight desperately to achieve their happy ending.
Perhaps the world does need saving, but not from a hero they would think, perhaps much like a princess locked in a high tower. The world would just look upon a star, close their eyes, make a wish, and they would be whisked away by a prince to make their wish come true and to live happily ever after.
So wish upon a star…
