"...So?"
But Henry isn't responding, his train of thought cut off entirely at the sight of the cursive scrawl on Alex's now exposed chest, shirt entirely unbuttoned. The font is in perfect cursive, looping around the letters as his eyes hone in on two words in startling clarity, black ink against tanned skin.
Bloody child.
"Prick." Henry says, nothing more than a breath, and watches as the font curls and changes to reflect the word.
"Ex-fucking-scuse me?"
Panicked at the thought of Alex being stood directly in front of a mirror, he whispers underneath his breath the first word that comes to mind, “Gorgeous.”
“Are you having a stroke?”
In a world where the last thing your soulmate says about you appears on your skin, Henry has always wanted to see the black script curl across his chest. Unfortunately for him, his soulmate turns out to be the infuriating wedding planner determined to work alongside him, who has absolutely zero interest in finding his own soulmate.

Andrew does not believe in soulmates. Nicky has a soulmate. His twin Aaron has a soulmate too, but Andrew doesn't let them speak.
Everyone around him has a soulmate. They can all see in color. He can't. He doesn't believe in soulmates, doesn't believe in love at all. When enough people tell you what love should look like, when you're told enough times that you should be able to see in color but you can't, you start to believe that you don't have a soulmate after all. And that's okay.
At least, it was, until Andrew makes eye contact with a stranger at Eden's and the world comes to a screeching halt.

Soulmate au where you can't see in color until you lock eyes with your soulmate. Additionally, if your soulmate dies, your vision goes back to monochrome.

Summary
"What do you want?" Neil asks softly. Do you want me here? Should I go?
Andrew makes a sweeping gesture with his hands towards Neil, not a 'go away,' but a 'scoot over.' Instead of sliding backward like the motion suggests, Neil goes forward, leaving the side of the bed against the wall open for Andrew. It earns him another look, which Neil pretends not to see as he fluffs his half of the pillow, laying flat on his back. Then Andrew deftly climbs over him, momentarily filling his entire world with soft black cloth, blond hair, cigarettes, Andrew-- and then Andrew is settling in the space between Neil and the wall, and Neil is left staring at the slats of his own bed above his head.
Neil is very awake.

This picks up right after the books ended, a short story of how I think the aftermath of the championship game, Riko, and all that jazz would've gone. It is mostly just Neil being extremely sleepy. And having a lot of Thoughts. Mostly about Andrew. More will be added in the series later!

Besides, you know what his life's been like, with parents like his he might not know what a healthy relationship even looks like. And the others are probably too scared of Andrew to intervene."

Andrew doesn’t care about compliments. He knows he is objectively fairly handsome, height aside. He dresses well, he’s fit, he’s an athlete — he is comfortable with the way he looks and the way he is. It doesn’t matter. Neil is— enough. Everything else is inconsequential. Neil does not comment on his looks. Neil says things like You’re amazing and Choose us and I want to stay and that means more than any shallow observation ever could.

“Okay, we get the Exy obsession, because you’re legitimately planning on going pro, and we get the Kevin obsession because he’s dedicated to teaching you to go pro, and we even get the Minyard obsession,” Dan says.
“Shh,” Neil pleads desperately, hoping beyond hope that nobody heard that.
“But the podcast has nothing to do with Exy! It’s half about music, and you don’t even like music that much,” Dan says. “It’s literally just music and a really weird guy talking about his homicidal impulses, and it sorta sounds like a joke, but on a much more real level it sounds like it’s absolutely not a joke and I would call the authorities if this guy gave any personal details at all,” Dan says.
“It’s mostly a joke,” Neil offers, but it sounds weak to his own ears.

“Neil knows what I want,” Andrew snaps. This is not Andrew’s fault.
“How do you know?”
Because Neil always knows. He is as fluent in Andrew’s micro-expressions as he is in German and French. He knows which head tilts mean “go on” and which ones mean “shut up.” Without ever asking, he learned what it meant to see Andrew wearing double layers of long sleeves, or taking multiple showers in a day, and learned to hand Andrew the car keys.
That has always been the most terrifying thing about Neil — his patience to wait, watch, listen, learn. The prospect that if Neil were given enough time, there would be no part of Andrew that was just Andrew’s anymore.
“He has to know,” Andrew says.
“Does he?” Renee says. “Have you ever known Neil to assume that he is wanted?”
Five times Neil tells someone that he and Andrew aren’t dating, and one time Andrew uses his words to set the record straight.
