Summary
“Suspicions?” Crystal snorted, sitting down next to Jesse on the bed. “What suspicions?”
“I suspect that behind your tough and uncaring persona…” Jesse leaned in, as if sharing a secret. “Is a girl who seriously cares about what others think. I really think that Crystal Palace Surname Von Hoverkraft is secretly a big softie.”
“Dream on,” Crystal snorted. “Haven’t you heard? I’m mean and I’m a bitch. That isn’t changing any time soon.”
“Whatever you say,” Jesse grinned and reached out to hold Crystal’s face. “I know better.”

A time (pre-canon) Crystal Palace fumbled a girl, and a time (post-canon) that she didn't.

Summary
“The siren,” Edwin confirmed. His expression turned serious then. He looked Charles in the eye, determined. “We have to kill her. If we don’t, then these ghosts will never be free, and even more will be affected.”
“Brills. I am completely on board with that,” Charles said quickly. “Except for one thing: How do we keep from being affected?”
“Oh, I don't think that will be a problem,” Edwin raised the book up and pointed at the fine print at the bottom of the page. “The siren's song only affects those withholding a confession of love. And-” Edwin looked away, suddenly embarrassed. “We've already gotten that part out of the way.”

OR: The boys go to kill a siren with the power to lure and possess ghosts who are withholding love confessions. What could possibly go wrong?

Summary
When Niko Sasaki showed up on the doorstep of the Dead Boy Detective office, breathless and pale as a sheet from the exhaustion that comes from being stabbed by a witch’s magic knife and finding themselves in another dimension with the two little gods who had tried to kill her not even a week before, and Charles watched as Crystal, Jenny, and Edwin tackled Niko and they all collapsed on the floor in a sobbing heap, he knew that they needed a well-deserved break. Preferably one far from London and the burnout that comes with helping countless ghosts with their paranormal cases.

Summary
So maybe they were doing it all a bit backwards. Usually you were supposed to have the kisses and the sex and the love confessions after dating, not all at once on the very first day. Usually you didn’t spend the rest of the week making up excuses to see each other, in between lectures and lunches and after hours, and probably didn’t end up having yet more mind-blowing sex more often than not. You definitely didn’t only plan your first date after all that – if it still counted as the first, even.
But when had Charlize and Edith ever gone about anything the usual way?Or: A series of firsts in Charlize and Edith’s fledgeling relationship.

Summary
Ever so slowly, things started changing. Charles spent more time in the library, never mind how his mates teased him, skimming through everything even slightly paranormal. Just in case. Sometimes he’d get to his room and his desk would be way neater than he’d left it; sometimes it’d be just the same, except that some old trinket had been pulled out from who-knows-where. There were flowers tucked in a couple of his books now, pressed flat and pretty, and Charles put them carefully back the few times they fell out, before he learnt how to hold the books up to prevent it. Once, when he was late for morning classes and stumbled out of his room with his tie all askew, he felt that cool brush like fingers at his throat, and no teacher gave him trouble for his appearance.
The day wasn’t anything special, except for that. Except that, at the end of it, Charles turned to the perpetual cold spot in his room and said, “Realise I never properly introduced myself, did I? My name’s Charlie – well, Charles, really. What’s yours?”
Or: Charles and his friendly boarding school ghost make each other’s acquaintance.

“Come this time tomorrow you’ll be back in Hell, mate.”
The demon grins. It is an awful, chilling thing and looks wrong painted on Edwin Payne’s handsome face. “I’ll make a note of it in my diary. See you then, beautiful.”

“So basically, you stand a few feet away from each other and you take small steps forward, slowly, both at the same time, yeah? And you have to hold eye contact the whole time, that’s the important part! You walk towards each other until you meet under the mistletoe–”
“The mistletoe?!” Edwin startled. During his time it was not used for silly games, but a rather serious matter of kissing a potential match during social gatherings.“Why does it have to happen under the mistletoe?”
“Forget about that.” Charles quickly dismissed his concern. “It doesn’t really matter. The big thing is that you come really close to each other and whoever stops or averts their eyes first - loses. And the winner will get to choose our Christmas mixtape.”
---
OR: In order to choose the person in charge of their holiday music, Charles proposes a game that has them standing really close under the mistletoe, while intently looking into each other's eyes. After Port Townsend, Edwin begins to question the fairness of the game.

Summary
The guests all stood and turned back to face the doors as they slid open. The music rose to a crescendo, and in walked Edwin, beautifully dressed and clutching a spray of flowers. He was wearing that small and secret smile that Charles knew better than his own, strutting down the aisle like it was a runway privileged enough to feature him. Charles couldn’t take his eyes off him even if he wanted to. The world and everyone in it faded away, ‘til Edwin was all he could see. If Charles could choose to live in this moment for the rest of forever, he would.
Or: A real wedding; a fake relationship. What could possibly go wrong?
