Shouta has seen the signs. He’s worked enough years as an underground hero to know when a child is abused but he also has enough experience to know that it’s not enough to suspect something. He needs proof. He needs Shinsou to make a statement. He needs him to work together with him, to stand his ground and not act as if nothing is wrong.
“Why do you care?” Shinsou wants to know and his voice is nothing but a soft, scared whisper.
“Because I do. Because you deserve someone on your side. Because you deserve better than this, than feeling like this.”

Hitoshi knows because sometimes there are callers like him, people who are desperate and without any kind of hope left and Present Mic takes them off air while he talks to them and he promises that he always, always helps.
He has to help Hitoshi as well.
“What’s up, listener? You’re on air, so what’s the topic for today?” Present Mic’s voice suddenly rings in his ear, slightly layered by the radio still playing, and there’s a beat of silence before Hitoshi bursts into tears.

“I want to adopt,” Shouta says, and frowns when Hizashi only mildly shakes his head.
“We’re not getting another cat, we have three and that’s enough,” Hizashi decisively says and okay, that’s Shouta’s mistake.
"I think we should get foster licenses," he rephrases and maybe, in hindsight, that wasn't the best way because now Hizashi's head flies around, eyes wide and a look of pure terror on his face.
"Who are you and what have you done with my husband?" Hizashi asks and Shouta supposes that's fair.
