It was always the same basic message. Always the same song and dance every year of his life. Wake up excited for his birthday only to immediately have the day ruined by those simple words. Words that used to be delivered to him softly from his mother, but now were displayed emotionlessly across his phone screen.
Something came up.
At least now they were delivered from the man himself, he supposed.

This is it. Senior year. Year thirteen. Charlie’s almost out, he’s going to lift his grades, spend time with his friends, and then leave Truham far, far behind him.
One caveat: Truham’s “seniority program” means that he will be paired with an upper classman from last year’s graduating class. The better to prepare for college, etc. etc…but his partner is the ex-captain of the rugby team, possibly the laddest lad the school could possibly think of to pair with the outed gay kid.
But there’s something quite a bit different about Nicholas Nelson.

Summary
October 31st is a feared day, and it's not because of Halloween; it is All the Day of The Marking. Trackers pursue different chosen individuals by Nyx, the Goddess of Night and Vampires.
Charlie Spring, a bright light yet a tortured soul... After learning about his boyfriend Sai Verma's infidelity, it broke his heart, especially since they have been best friends since birth. Once he is marked, Sai is desperate; he strikes his hand to show Charlie he still loves him. While fledglings are supposed to not have a taste for blood, Charlie is obsessed with it. He hated being different and standing out... However, when his fledgling mark is filled in, which is what full vampires' marks look like... he and everyone else knew that he was different.
Nick Nelson has been at the House of Night for a year longer than Charlie Spring. They knew about each other in school, but they really got to know each other once they became roommates. Nick quickly learns he is obsessed with Charlie; however, confronting his bisexuality proves difficult with his dumb friends and homophobic brother around. Though his friends and brother aren't the only difficulties, it seems like other guys are allured by Charlie too.

Summary
Nick gets hurt playing rugby (How original, I know) and we'll see how he struggles to heal, both physically and mentally.
We end up with an angsty Nick, who has to deal with some of his own insecurities and issues. He doesn't need to be taken care of, it's his job to take care of others. By the end, he will end up realizing that he needs other people (mainly Charlie) as much as they need him.
Basically, I kind of wanted to explore what it would be like if Nick was the more vulnerable or "hurt" one and Charlie gets to be the strong/badass guy we know he's gonna be some day.
There will be angst and drama, but there will 1000% be a happy ending. These two boys deserve it.
PS: The main story I wanted to tell is complete, but I'm not done here. I'm going to be writing various epilogue chapters, that jump ahead to various points in time, which will tie back to the main story.
