He always imagined a daughter. She would have his father’s white hair and milky blue eyes, but she would have Morgan’s face; maybe she would have Vergil’s frown; maybe she would have Morgan’s sly little smile.
Nonsensically, he hoped she was taller than he was; she would get crap for it, but maybe that meant that immature men who couldn’t see the power in her frame wouldn’t attempt to use her. He hoped she was shorter than he was; that when she came to him scared for comfort, she would fit perfectly in his arms and be reassured.
Occasionally he entertained himself between fits of torture by attempting to name her. Maybe Antigone, who guided her blind father until his death. Maybe something honoring Kundalakesi, who killed her husband who tried to kill her. Or maybe Hel, or something like it, who will bring the end of the world.
Vergil never once imagined he would have a son.

Truthfully, he admitted, they aren't meant to be apart. They are to form one perfect amulet. Splitting them was a tactic for safekeeping, for ensuring that if one was taken, the other would remain out of reach. Its one of the many duties he's undertaken as the unofficial guardian of the human realm. If she accepts one half of the amulet, she accepts one half of the same burden.
But she does not hesitate.

Or: How Dante, Vergil, and Nero learn to become a family again despite all their painful history. Copious amounts of angst, whump, hurt/comfort, with equally large servings of brotherly and father-son fluff to make up for it.

And even now, twenty-three years after her death, a part of him mourns for her still.
In which Vergil is hit with hallucinatory demon venom on the twenty-third anniversary of his lover's death, and finds his aching memory of her embodied at last.

Summary
Simply put, Dante has lived for years without him, has built a world and a life while Vergil spent the better part of his own adult years rotting away as a mindless slave, and nothing made this highly disconcerting fact more clear than their coming back to the human world.
Vergil’s own time had stopped the moment he’d lost sight of who he was, but the universe hadn’t stopped for him. So now he lives out his days in the shop that Dante’s founded with someone else, watching him take on the practice that he shares with someone else, and sits around, alone in his own mind, wondering where his days have gone.

Vergil learns what it means to live in the human world. V helps, as he always has, for better or worse.

Summary
A sharp taste, dripping with the essence of magic, suddenly blossomed in Vergil's space.
Quicker than one could blink, the pen was switched out for the Yamato, Vergil changing his position to that of a crouched ready stance in one fluid motion. His sharp gaze was immediately drawn to the demonic presence he could feel, spotting the form of a person not too far from him. They were crouched as well.
Two pairs of eyes of the same shade of blue met in the dim darkness. Recognition flared to life in both of them.
“It’s you…”
