“I hate frats,” Louis repeats for what feels like the millionth time.
“Yes, I’ve heard, once or twice or every day for the past three years,” Liam says. His careful tone reminds Louis of how his mom always sounds when one of his siblings is on the brink of a tantrum.
Louis glances speculatively at Liam’s frat brothers, who are still huddled together and chatting, with the exception of the one who’s looking in Louis’ direction. Maybe Louis shouldn’t rule out a tantrum. While making a scene wouldn’t actually free him from fraternity nonsense in the future, it would at least be entertaining.
AU where Louis hates fraternities and would never be into a frat boy. And one of these things is definitely not a lie.

Summary
To understand the level of deep water Louis was in, one first needed to know he has had the same best friend since he was five. Ethan Astor was family to him—a friend who he loved deeply despite their differences. A friend he would do almost anything for. So when Ethan came to him with the plan, no matter how he felt about it, Louis accepted it.
At first, it was simple, he just had to flutter his eyelashes at any of the boys that showed interest in Ethan, and if they fell for it, he just dumped them without telling them the reason. Somehow, the rumors spread around campus that Ethan had an insufferable friend they had to somehow win over to reach him. Like a final monster before getting the princess.
Or: Harry likes Louis’ best friend and there's a rumor that in order to get a chance with him, he should woo Louis first.

"Harry, mi-mi dispiace così tanto ..." balbetta Louis, cercando di mantenere la sua voce ferma e uniforme, per provare a sembrare forte, ma con Harry che lo guarda in quel modo, come se potesse leggergli l'anima, è così difficile, quasi impossibile.
Quella semplice frase d'apertura, quella breve introduzione che spesso viene detta così facilmente, senza alcun dolore, a distanza di sicurezza. Da a un medico la capacità di mostrare empatia senza però vere emozioni, senza sentire tutto il peso e la forza pura del dolore assalirti.
Ma Louis lo sente, sente la straziante agonia intrecciata dietro la frase, sente il peso delle parole dolorose scivolargli dalle labbra, la causa e la conseguenza racchiuse nell'espressione di tre parole. Il "mi dispiace tanto" così distante che i medici pronunciano per auto-conservarsi, non è affatto distante per lui. Louis lo riconosce, lo capisce, lo sente .

“Um, sorry, but I believe that’s actually mine,” Harry said a bit awkwardly, pointing at the cup.
The man huffed, slightly narrowing his blue eyes, “Nope, large Americano, dash of cream.” He held the coffee up closer to Harry and honestly, Harry knew exactly what was in the cup because it was his coffee.
“Right,” Harry slowly drawled out as if he was talking to a toddler, “Which would make that mine.”
“Look, I really don’t have time for this, I’m running late. And this,” he said before he took a sip from the cup, “Is mine.”
Harry’s jaw dropped and he held his hands out, failing them slightly, “Wha-you can’t just drink it!”
“Well I did, so, do you still want it or can I be on my way?” The man challenged.
Harry shook his head disbelievingly, “Take it, but for the record, it says Harry on it.”
The man turned the cup around and a sharp laugh came out of his mouth, “Well, shit.” He looked at Harry, a smile stretched across his face as crinkles formed next to his eyes. “Thanks, Harry.”
