Summary
Venti, the Anemo Archon of Mondstadt, has fallen in love with Barbara, who is a deaconess of the Church of Favonius. Knowing that he cannot offer her the promise of growing old together, he had taken on a mortal form and alters his body to appear to age alongside her in order to be with her until her dying days.
However, as Barbara lay dying on her deathbed, Venti confesses his true identity to her, only to learn that she had already known. As their time together comes to an end, they reflect on their life together and the sacrifices they made for each other.

This story was a slight canon divergent AU and one of those Corrupted Archons AU stories that happened after the Mondstadt Archon Quest.
The story focuses on how the people of Mondstadt deals with their Anemo Archon, Lord Barbatos, the literal God of Freedom, being the opposite one of that they have known and believed in.
As they were living under the era where the once elusive but benevolent Lord Barbatos now becoming the second Decarabian or worse, with Kaeya being in Liyue and how some of the people of Mondstadt had been miserable over Lord Barbatos's newfound tyranny, they met a little wind sprite who volunteered to help them in his own way.
Who is this Venti and why this little wind sprite was helping them against Lord Barbatos himself?
And yeah, poor Deaconesses Barbara Pegg was having a crisis at this moment, seeing how her beloved god was hurting her city.

It is an alternative universe story where Mondstadt was
assumed to bedestroyed instead of Khaenri'ah 500 years ago, during the Cataclysm.But instead of having total destruction Iike how Khaenri'ah suffered in the original timeline, they were blasted to a different pocket realm by Lord Barbatos as a last act of sacrifice for his people an a guise against Celestia's detection.
Instead of Kaeya being the spy as in the original timeline, it was little Diluc who was sent to Khaenri'ah to spy on the royal family of Khaenri'ah so they could execute their plan to enact revenge against Celestia, the other nations governed by the Seven, and Khaenri'ah.
In this story, the Knights of Favonius (or the Ordo) were the ruthless organization that was responsible for training and deploying children of Mondstadt as pawns in their quest of revenge and freedom, in the name of their beloved Anemo Archon, Lord Barbatos, who sacrificed for them.

Furina and Neuvillette had to deal with the prophecy (without them knowing at first) while dealing with Focalors who was still stuck in the mirror but is an asshole and a villainous brat.
Turns out that it was a pretty bad idea.

This is an alternative universe story featuring the concept of what-ifs and the events of Lord Barbatos' ascension.
In the original universe, Venti the Bard became the God of Freedom, the free-spirited Anemo Archon of Mondstadt and a lively bard, because of his friend's last words. The "weakest" of the Seven for a reason.
But what if the Nameless Bard died without saying a word?
In this story, a horrible twist of fate and a new timeline occurred as the Venti that we have known today had been ceased to exist, changed to an obsessive and overprotective Anemo Archon who became the second Decarabian
but akin to a helicopter parent than an ignorant onebecause in his heart, the concept of freedom is the reason why his friend died because of his pursuit of freedom. And he was resentful of it that he became the opposite of what his friend really wants.The God of Freedom of the canon timeline had a different ideal for Mondstadt in this story. Even though it was not explicitly shown, it was obvious that he wanted control over them
(the Anemo sigil in their necks that he had placed on them acting like a control collar on the people, disguised as a loving gift from him so he could check their health but if he wants to, he can mind control them with only a word)so he could protect his children and not wanted them to end up like his friend.Each chapter is a POV of Mondstadt people under his heavy but "loving" rule as he was starting to descend into madness and it's a matter of time before the poison will take him in full force. It's up to his beloved children to save him this time, even he felt he didn't need it.

Summary
Being the outcast of the Seven was never easy. Neither was being judged for his drinking habits, or thought by others to take everything for granted, not deserving his position between the Seven.
But what helped was that they never pronounced those thoughts aloud, so Barbatos could act as if he never noticed the cold stares, the judging looks. That was until he came in late to one of their most important meeting.
So what happens when Barbatos goes missing, and the only sign that he is alive is the slow and steady beating of his gnosis, connected to the other archons'?
Or an AU where the Original Seven are still alive and never died, and judge Barbatos too harshly. But we still love them.
PS: as of the 2.6 update, which is the time I started writing this fanfic, we know nothing of the former archons thus why they might be ooc, but for the sake of the story, we're going to ignore it. I just changed the name of the Dendro Archon to her original one because, for those who will see this in the future, this fanfic wasn't posted when 3.0 came out, so it was easy for me to just put Rukkhadevata instead of Kusanali.

An alternative universe story where Venti (Barbatos) is the youngest of the Original Seven Archons, and the Original Seven are still alive, compared to what happened in the canon where only Zhongli (Morax) and Venti were the last amongst them after the Cataclysm. The Cataclysm still happened but this time, the Original Seven are all alive.
In this version of events, Lord Barbatos, the newest addition to this Seven, was deemed irresponsible and childish by his colleagues due to his carefree nature and the fact that he was late on the Archon meeting, not knowing that he was just recently fighting During. W cc from. They were wondering on why amongst all gods, he was the one who survived and took the place of the Anemo Archon, not knowing that he also carried some burdens for his people, it's just that it was not like the others.
That incident caused him to disappear on the eyes of his colleagues until 500 years later, the Archons, regretful of what they had done to him at that time and to investigate the missing colleague, met a mysterious bard in Mondstadt while dealing with Celestia seemingly having a beef with Lord Barbatos for something he had done prior to his disappearance.
Since this story was made prior to the reveal of Nahida, Furina, and Mavuika, the original Archons' names may have based on the names that they were speculated to have or was referenced in the past works:
Kusanali (It was Rukkhadevata, but the author changed it right now. Buer could be shared by Nahida and )
Focalors(Furina's Archon name, turns out it was Egeria as the original one)
Murata(was just a mistranslation of the "Lady of Fire" comment. The prologue was removed in the CN website of Genshin prior to Fontaine's release. It's Mavuika's Archon name is Haborym, probably sharing with the actual first Pyro Archon, Xbalanque, which is actually a male human).
