Another moan from the figure currently on all fours on the floor. Or all threes, to be exact. One of Jungwon’s hands is clutching his throat. His nails are digging in hard enough that there’s small rivulets of blood meandering down his neck. Black blood.

Jungwon frowned. “Yeah?”
“Just the two of you?”
“Well… yeah.”
Sunoo blinked at him for a moment, then leaned back against the couch with the kind of expression people usually had right before saying something extremely unnecessary.
“Oh,” he said. “So it’s a date.”
Jungwon nearly choked. “It’s not a date.”
Sunoo stared at him, one hand flying up to cover his mouth. “You have to be joking.”
“What?”
“Don’t you know?”
“Know what?”
Sunoo looked genuinely scandalized. “Everyone knows.”
Okay, now Jungwon was starting to get frustrated. “What are you talking about?”
“There’s this thing about Sapporo,” Sunoo said, scooting a little closer as if he were about to share classified information. “If two people get stuck there together during a snowstorm, they’re destined to stay together forever.”

The note – travelled to them on Jake’s plate, but referring to someone with Jake, not Jake himself – was about Jungwon. That much was clear to him. What he didn’t know is who sent it, because Jake is trying to tell him, but his ears have suddenly started ringing. The cook, he sees Jake mouth, and then he’s slapping the note back onto the table like he was squashing a bug, sliding it over so Jake can read it and confirm that it said what he thought it did.
He’s blushing. He’s not sure he’s ever blushed in his life. Jungwon – by nature, but also by strict rule – doesn’t do that.

They’d never exchanged words beyond sorry, my son likes to talk and it’s okay, I do too, but then Hot Single Dad had given him a smile – all big teeth and crinkled eyes – and that was enough for him to become a regular cast member in Jake’s fantasies.
It wasn’t purely carnal desire, though. Jake genuinely felt an urge to get to know him – both of them, truthfully. Riki seems like a sweet kid, and his father seems nice, and he’d met so few people since he moved back to the city. See, the kitchen incident must’ve triggered some sort of cosmic chain of events—that’s the universe equals bitch part—because after it, his Jay-hyung just gets more and more competent. Or, not exactly. Jungwon’s pretty sure Jay is just as competent as he always was, only now, and this is where Jungwon’s stupid brain comes in, now Jungwon is so keenly aware of it that it’s like fucking enlightenment.
Except, his enlightenment consists solely of seeing everything Park Jongseong can do, and how he just keeps fucking doing it.
Otherwise known as: a quiet day in the kitchen sheds new light on Park Jongseong’s capabilities.
Jungwon’s not going to make it out of this alive.
