Ness falls silent, but there’s a fire in his eyes that lets Kaiser know this version of Ness is dangerous. Maybe his Ness is, too. Because, under Ness's gaze, Kaiser is completely-

No. He didn’t get lucky with Ness. That couldn’t be it. That thought unsettled him even more. Luck had never been part of his life. Kaiser wasn’t someone who relied on chance — he never had been. He was Michael Kaiser. A force. Driven by strength and sheer will, not by luck. Luck was for the weak, and Kaiser had always prided himself on carving his own path, using his power to bend the world to his will.
Ness has been getting too many Valentine’s Day letters. Kaiser has a crisis about it.

Summary
Sae’s heart gets broken, so jokingly he draws a pentagram, circles it with salt just in case, and recites bad verses from an old, absurd tome — a cookbook, no less — to summon a demon for his vengeance.
But the joke’s on him. The ritual works, and before he knows what’s happening, there’s a demon in his kitchen, looking as murderous to be there as Sae is shocked to see it. Now, Sae is stuck with an actual demon, but not quite far from the revenge fantasy he had momentarily entertained.

“Skaters like Kaiser aren’t worth shit without a competent partner.” Sae’s eyes meet Alexis’s, his gaze appraising. “And you’re far more than competent, aren’t you?”

Eventually, the striker slipped a dry chuckle.
"And you didn't bother telling me until now." Kaiser's empty gaze dropped to the middle of his steering wheel where the striker's Rolls-Royce was embedded. He had just been out walking, believe it or not. Kaiser shivered in his car, and he shuffled his feet in the cramped compartment where the brake and gas pedals lay. "When did you get engaged, Ness?"
