“Evan, what’s going on, you’re scaring me” Maddie asked from beside him on the couch. Buck sighed, then turned to look at her.
“Uhh, Connor and Kameron are in town. They… they want me to meet him.” Buck didn’t bother explaining who him was. Maddie knew.
“Oh. That’s… is that something you would want?”
Or: Kameron and donor baby return to LA for a visit and throw Buck for a loop. Will meeting the child he helped create end up hurting Buck, or could it be the catalyst for something truly great?

Summary
“Man, I love these chocolate chip cookies! They’re so good!”
Eddie and Hen turn around to face the kitchen. Sam - Sam - is standing behind the counter, a chocolate chip cookie halfway to his mouth, a second one waiting in his other hand.
Eddie suppresses the urge to jump over the couch and take the cookies away from Sam. Sue him, he doesn't like sharing. Neither Buck nor his baked goods. And Sam? Eddie isn’t sure he deserves any of Buck’s baking. Not after the stunt he had pulled the week before.
He doesn’t though. Because he is an adult and he knows how to behave. And there are enough cookies at home for him to indulge in.
OR:
With Buck’s hearing looming over them, Eddie finds it more and more difficult not to miss his best friend at work. Having Sam there as a constant reminder of Buck’s absence doesn’t make it any easier.
Eddie might be a bit dramatic about it. But that’s just what Hen would say.

Summary
“Buck?” Eddie’s voice is quiet as he sees Buck’s form on the large bed, curled onto the side, head facing away from the door.
He seems to be asleep, but Eddie feels the hair on his arms stand on end all of a sudden. Something doesn’t seem right.
Buck snores when he is sleeping. Even when just on the couch in the fire station, you can always hear Buck’s soft snoring.
There’s no sound coming from his friend. None.
Eddie takes more steps into the room, crossing over to the bed. Buck is eerily still on his mattress, the sheets trapped underneath his muscular body.
“Buck?”
Eddie realizes three things at exactly the same moment: 1) Buck is out like a light, 2) he is barely breathing, 3) there’s a half empty bottle of pills on the pillow next to him.
“Shit!”
Or:
Eddie knows that Buck isn't doing okay, no matter what Buck tells him. He just hopes Buck will come to him before shit will inevitably hit the proverbial fan.
He doesn’t, and Eddie is left to pick up the pieces.

“Buck, I escaped the hospital with broken ribs and a fucked up shoulder to go and find you” Eddie’s voice is hard, but he needs Buck to understand. “I rode a fucking horse back to the diner for you. I hot-wired that shit car that’s waiting for us outside for you. I would’ve… Buck I was ready to kill Bonnie. To get to you.”
Buck is silent where he is sitting on the bed across from him, his eyes wide as saucers. Their hands are still tangled, and this time it’s Buck who squeezes Eddie’s fingers tightly, as if to anchor them to each other.
“You would’ve… Eddie…” Buck’s voice falters. He looks down at their joined hands for a moment, then back up, fixing Eddie’s gaze with his own.
“Why?”
Or: An overnight stop on their final leg home from Nashville reveals all Buck and Eddie were willing to do to safe the other. And maybe more is revealed too.

Summary
It starts with shoulder bumps. The small touches function as promises that they have each other's backs - no matter what they have to face. Eddie knows that the physical contact reassures Buck that he is part of a bigger whole, and who is Eddie to deny his partner that reassurance? And if he is honest with himself, these touches also ease some tension within himself, too. Because with Buck by his side, there will always be someone who has Eddie's back.
Or, an introspective journey through the 9-1-1 canon from Eddie's POV, focussing on his relationship with Buck and how small gestures can make all the difference in reassuring someone that they are not alone.
