That the effort he’s put into maintaining his intelligence over the years has been worth it because this time, he can be better.
But, he finds nothing.
It’s empty. Blank. Scattered and useless.
Alex looks down at his lap, at his legs hidden by starchy white bed sheets. “I don’t understand,” he whispers, tearfully. “I don’t remember. Why can’t I remember?”

Shit.
Alex froze for half a second before forcing a chuckle. “What?”
Henry’s jaw tightened, his gaze sharp now, assessing. “You look like hell,” he said bluntly, voice dropping into something firm. “When was the last time you slept?"
Alex rolled his eyes, trying for an easy smirk. “Jesus, Henry, thanks for the compliment.”
Henry didn’t even blink. “Alexander.”
The use of his full name sent a shiver down Alex’s spine, and he suddenly felt very, very seen. He fought the instinct to look away, to deflect, to play it off, but Henry wasn’t letting up
“Answer me.”
Alex swallowed hard. “I’ve been sleeping,” he said, lifting a shoulder. “Just, you know, finals season. Busy."
Henry’s gaze darkened. “That wasn’t an answer. Try again."
Alex felt his throat tighten. He could talk his way out of a press scandal, he could debate foreign policy in front of a crowd, but this—this level of scrutiny, from Henry of all people—made him feel exposed in a way he wasn’t prepared for.
“I dunno, A couple hours here and there. Not a big deal.”(Henry has to go to England for 3 full weeks, right in the middle of finals season and election campaigning: Alex doesn't take it well)

“You’re bold,” Henry monotones. He takes calculated steps forward, punctuating each slow stride with the unbutton and roll of his shirt sleeves. “I’ll give you that.”
“You’re only now realizing? Thought you were brighter than that, baby.”

Sejanus pulled away almost immediately, and Coryo panicked, wanting to backtrack and blame it on the white liquor, even though he knew that was a lie.

Coryo was momentarily blindsided by the roughness of Sejanus' voice. "I'm...sorry?"

Why record his confession in the first place, he's asking, not why delete it, except he knows he doesn’t want the truth about the first question so he lets Coriolanus answer the second.
