Childe kisses his hip. His hand. He rises, pressing his lips to Zhongli's cheek. Crawls into his lap.
"We can't, Childe." His hands dig into his own thighs. He can't touch him. He can't.
Childe takes his hands, guides them to his hips. He whispers into his lips, "We already are."
He tastes like cherry chapstick. It is so inexplicably nostalgic, so fresh and young, that Zhongli melts. Feels his body fall away when Childe kisses him slowly and gently before taking him into his mouth, before taking him on his floor.Zhongli has spent the better part of a decade in mourning, still and silent and lonely in his garden. Everything changes when a flash of red and thundering steps dash by his house.

Childe doesn’t even comment on how Zhongli uses the word home, how he talks about this burden as if it is theirs to share. There have been so many years without contact and now it is as if nothing has changed.

Summary
The abyss was black, snow was white, and battle was red. Tartaglia, “Childe,” quite liked them that way, and he quite liked when they all mixed together. In fact, nothing was better. He took every step in life desperate to swallow the whole world in those colors.
Zhongli, on the other hand, preferred the calm, endless blue of the sea. It was unfortunate that taming the ocean was a futile endeavor. Even so, he always found that he did his best soul-searching while near the water.
