Summary
Prosciutto’s gaze followed the lazy curls of smoke over water, turned to ink by night, to the shore. Festive lights hung from nearly every eave and branch. They twinkled in the dark, dusting a path of colorful wonder from the harbor to the sky. It was a beautiful sight. Perhaps even a touch romantic. Or as close to romance as they would allow for themselves.
Then Prosciutto noticed a tremor in Diavolo’s hand as it brought the cigarette back to his lips. The chilly breeze brushed his nose and cheeks a rosy hue, and tossed pink locks haphazardly into the air. And he huddled close enough now that their hips touched, seeking a warmth that Prosciutto was more than willing to provide.

Diavolo takes Prosciutto on a Christmas Eve cruise, but the chill in the air brings them closer to one another than they ever imagined.

But he had nothing. Not until Diavolo appeared, and gave him everything.
Including a cage.
He was aloof, in the beginning. Here, there, the tip of his hook scratching the surface, unfelt, until it sank its way beneath, and Prosciutto barely noticed. And by the time it had wrapped around his bones, he was already in too deep, all doors locked, the key sat on Diavolo’s tongue.
And he swallowed.
But Diavolo didn't realise he'd locked someone else inside, with eyes of blood.

And too quick, too soon, Prosciutto was already infatuated with a ghost who was more tangible and pervasive than anyone with flesh, feet to ground, and a fucking name. It was his power, his presence that had reached Prosciutto already, even though he couldn’t even see to touch--and the way he felt unseen eyes trace the way he moved, and counted the way he breathed.
But it was nothing -fucking nothing- compared to the way the boss made him feel when at last he saw him, they touched, and everything else in this world dissolved.
