Summary
Why now? Yaz wants to ask. Why would you give me hope? Why not in China? Why not in Manchester?
The Doctor takes a step forwards, reaching. Yaz steps back. “I came back.”
And it’s almost broken; it’s almost sorrowful. And Yaz nearly breaks; nearly jumps into her arms and clings to her, like she’s wanted to do for years now.
(And, in the back of her mind, fierce in its intensity—Why do you only ever want me when it’s too late?)
Then, the Doctor’s expression goes blank; unreadable. Yaz can see her—stacking those walls sky high; retreating and fleeing and shutting down and she laughs.
Nothing’s changed.
Yaz scoffs. “Four years too late.”
After four years apart, the Doctor re-enters Yaz's life right as she starts to get her life back together. Things go about as well as expected (not very).

Summary
"I realized something," Yaz starts.
"And what's that?" Jace asks.
"I always fancied it, you know," She fiddles with the ring on her index finger; feels it make an indent on her skin. "A gap year. Finding myself. Never really did it. I was too focused on uni. But I'd like to. With you."
Something flashes across Jace’s face. Her eyes light up. “Yasmin Khan, are you propositioning me?”
Yaz tilts her head. Grins a little. “So what if I was?”
Yaz is an up-and-coming investigative journalist with UNIT. Only all her coworkers, save for two, hates her guts. Same old, same old. When she's assigned to write a puff piece on the Division, it leads her onto a trail of shady inventions and a disgraced inventor by the name of Jace Smith. Which would be fine, really, if Yaz hadn't met Jace in a pub all those months ago and began seeing her secretly. Nothing can ever be that simple, can it?

Summary
“When we met," Yaz starts. "You were so obscure, unknowable. You took me all around the world, showing me what life could be like. I thought it’d be like this forever. I thought it would always be like this: you and me, toppling worlds in London, in New York. Like nothing could ever break us.”
“I didn’t know Scotland Yard would find us,” Maeve snaps, her eyes shining with an apology. “Or Borusa.”
“Neither did I,” Yaz replies. “I think—I think we’ve tried to tell our story to ourselves, over and over again, until it’s taught with unmeaning. I think we want it to mean something else than what it is. I think we’re stuck in the lies that we’ve been living.”
“I haven’t lied to you.”
“No,” Yaz’s eyes shine. “You just haven’t told me the truth.”
Following her cancer diagnosis, Maeve Smith is released from Holloway Women's Prison on compassionate discharge and is ordered to spend the rest of her days with her caretaker and best friend, Yasmin Khan. Business as usual—or it would be if Maeve wasn't hiding something and if the cracks that nearly destroyed their friendship eight years ago didn't come roaring back.

Summary
The whole thing was Sonya's fault.
It started with a party. Or, rather, it started with a planning of one. Her Nani’s 87th birthday. Tremendous occasion, huge really. Such a big occasion that one would assume Yaz would be taking her girlfriend to. It was simple enough. Or it would have been if Yaz hadn’t broken up with Jess two months prior.
Yeah. Fucking Sonya.

Summary
“It’s starting."
“What’s starting?” Yaz questions.
“Yaz, you have to go,” The woman drops the clippers—walks towards Yaz with an urgency. “You and the Doctor. It’s not safe.”
“We’re only staying the night,” Roams her eyes over the woman; frown deepening at the pass that hangs from her neck.
“You can’t,” Says it insistently—looks almost scared. “They’ll get you if you do. Can’t you see?”
“See what?” Yaz asks.
“The house,” Grasps her hand and all but tugs her towards the door. “It’s shifting, isn’t it? Changing. You’re already in its grasp.”
“Who’s grasp?” Yaz hisses, snatching her hands back.
“Time,” The woman whispers.
Exeter. 1965. When the Doctor tries to take Yaz and Dan to Carnegie Hall to see Billie Holiday, they end up in Exeter, trapped with the Williams family in a rickety old house. Only the house is different, haunted, and they can't get out. And something's wrong with the TARDIS. As the Doctor, Yaz, and Dan try to get out and save the Williams family, they start to realize something is very wrong with reality.
